Hello Norfolk!
In the newsWith over ninety miles of stunning coastline, nature reserves, and beautiful landscapes, we are delighted to share we are expanding our exclusive collection into Norfolk, a very special part of the UK.
Separated into seven areas (Breckland and Thetford Forest, Broadland and Broads, Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn, North Norfolk, Norwich and South Norfolk/Waveney Valley), Norfolk has something for everyone. A holiday here is akin to stepping back in time, embracing a slower pace of life and enjoying re-charging and relaxing, whether you head for one of the many deserted beaches, the tranquil waterways of the Broads, or spend time exploring the beautiful cathedral city of Norwich and other charming villages and towns.
Starting with beaches; you will be spoilt for choice along this vast and fabulous coastline. Head for the traditional port town of Wells-next-the-Sea for the picture-perfect sandy beach, pretty harbour, and reputedly the best fish and chips in Norfolk, or perhaps Hunstanton where you will find an elegant Victorian town, Esplanade Gardens, and gently sloping beach backed by famous red and white striped cliffs.
Probably the most renowned seaside resort is Great Yarmouth. Known as a bustling family holiday destination, Great Yarmouth offers all the usual activities such as arcades, rides, a pier and pleasure beach. There’s even a Sea Life Aquarium here and miles of sandy beach to keep everyone happy.
Cromer is also a family favourite, with long, sandy beaches and surfing when conditions allow. Visit the pier where you'll find the iconic lifeboat station and the last end-of-pier theatre in the UK The Pavilion Theatre, where variety shows take place every summer and winter.
For a quieter pace of life, surround yourself in nature with a visit to the Norfolk Broads (also known as The Broads National Park) where you will discover over 125 miles of waterways, home to more than a quarter of the UK’s rarest animals and plants. Hire a boat, canoe or SUP, which are great fun for all ages and abilities and ideal for seeing the area from the water. Walkers will love the waterside trails, woodlands, fens and rich history, perfect for exploring on foot with your four-legged friends. The best bit? No hills, just gentle landscapes to enjoy!
If a spot of retail therapy is on the cards, try the cathedral city of Norwich for its fabulous collection of independent shops and one of the oldest outdoor markets in the country. The medieval cathedral and Norman castle are well worth a visit too, or you can wander the charming, cobbled streets around Elm Hill, which date back to the Tudor period and are home to quaint little shops and cafes.
The quintessential North Norfolk village of Burnham Market is found a short distance from the coast and promises gorgeous Georgian houses, pretty streets, and a fabulous collection of boutique shops and fine dining restaurants. The largest of the Burnham villages, Burnham Market is often referred to as 'Chelsea-on-Sea'.
Measuring over 1,200 miles, The Norfolk Trails offer walkers, cyclists and horse riders some stunning routes throughout the county. Taking in both coast and countryside, these trails are perfect for getting off the beaten track and immersing yourself in nature throughout the year. And of course, you can always plan your route to take in a tearoom or pub for a well-deserved refreshment break!
The most famous historic house in Norfolk has to be Sandringham House, the Royal Family’s country retreat since 1870. Nestled in the heart of The Norfolk Coast National Landscape, Sandringham is stunning, whether you plan to see the main house (open March to October), join a guided tour or explore the majestic 600-acre parkland on foot. There is also a formal garden, shop, and café to enjoy.
Whatever the time of year, Norfolk has so much to offer, and all this is within easy reach of London, perfect for a romantic short break or longer stay with all the family.
