We love The Essex for an afternoon pitstop or an evening meal and take a look at the tiny cider shop in the heart of the village to take away some lovely local produce after a tough afternoon drinking tea and eating cakes. For a wonderfully classic countryside holiday, Godshill is a picturesque location to spend your time on the Isle of Wight.
Godshill’s central location makes it ideal for those wanting to make the most of the isle. Whether you want to visit the Needles to the west, take a trip to Bembridge and Seaview in the east or head north to Newport and Cowes, journeys to most locations on the isle are no more than 40 minutes from this point. The closest beaches are around Ventnor, Shanklin and Sandown: long stretches of golden sand flanked by the promenade make them great for long walks with dogs (or kids, if they’re feeling particularly energetic) as you can stay safe from the sea up on the prom or splash amongst the waves in the warmer weather.
