Penzance is an ideal spot to explore West Cornwall. St Ives isn’t too far off for a treasure hunt through the cobbled streets. For fishing villages nearby, Newlyn and its wonderful fish festival is a great place to pick up a tasty treat for dinner and to walk the coastal path over to Mousehole, Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre. From the lido to the harbour, we’ve handpicked some of the finest self catering cottages in Penzance which make a great base.
Being a slightly larger town, Penzance is great for all the family with plenty to do. The promenade makes the perfect place for a walk with a buggy, the kids or the dog. The surrounding beaches capture the magic of Mount’s Bay with beautiful panoramic views, especially from outside the big white walls of Jubilee Pool. For a more cultured day out, there’s also the Penlee Museum and Gallery in the middle of town or the Tremenheere sculpture garden slightly further out.
A lungful of sea air and a parade along the promenade bring some gentle activity to your Cornish break. Push the boundaries with a sea swim on a fresh spring morning or a dip in the Jubilee Pool, a seawater fed swimming pool and a real sun trap in the summer months. Try something a little different with a cycle along the Cornish coastline, as the prom is fairly flat it’s suitable for all ages and cycling abilities.
Ideal for families, dog owners and anyone else really, Penzance has a little something for everyone to enjoy a seaside holiday in Cornwall.
