This former milking parlour that served the local farm has been beautifully converted into a fabulous holiday home. Situated in a picturesque Dorset village that is full of character and charm, The Old Dairy is a hidden escape you are sure to love.

All on one level, The Old Dairy is bright and modern, with sunshine filling the kitchen/dining-room from the French doors out to the patio. The living area is cosy all year around with the log-effect electric fire. Everything has been thought of in the kitchen, including a coffee machine for those leisurely holiday mornings.

Both bedrooms offer peaceful spaces to rest your sleepy heads and the 'zip and link' bed offers excellent flexibility. Neutral tones and beautifully soft linen ensures you have a peaceful night's sleep.

Outside, the private enclosed garden is perfectly set up for children and dogs alike and there is even some fantastic play equipment, complete with slide and swing (please ensure children are supervised at all times). The play equipment is easily accessible and can be found just the other side of the fence, in to the owners' garden. It is easy to keep an eye on the youngsters from the patio area that has super-comfy seating and is a sunny spot to enjoy a glass of something chilled.

The friendly owners live next door in the thatched farmhouse and are on hand should you need them but you are assured of the utmost privacy. In the owners' garden they keep some hens and chickens and you are most welcome to say hello to these fluffy friends.

In Winterborne Stickland, The Crown is a friendly local pub within walking distance and close by in neighbouring villages there are some fantastic farm shops in which to purchase local produce in preparation for your holiday barbecues. A short drive away is the Georgian town of Blandford Forum, which is a great place to stop and buy treats from independent artisan shops. It is also home to the Hall and Woodhouse Brewery where you can have a tour of where they have been brewing the famous Badger Beer since 1777.

Little ones will love Monkey World, a world renowned ape rescue centre, as well as the Tank Museum, both in nearby Bovington. To the north are the market towns of Shaftesbury and Sherborne, both well worth a visit or take an evening trip to Cranborne Chase, an International Dark Sky Reserve and watch the stars glisten.

A Dorset holiday would, of course, not be complete without a trip to the Jurassic Coast where millions of years of history is packed into exceptional geology and scenery. The wonders of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are around 30 minutes away in the car and if you are looking for sand between your toes, head to Weymouth which is a great place for children to paddle and build castles.
