TwinLess than two miles from Lulworth Cove, part of the only World Heritage Site in England, Halcyon Cottage is a pretty, detached stone cottage in the heart of the village of West Lulworth. Right from the door you can head out to the coast path and find your way to the pebble beach and peaceful blue waters of Lulworth Cove.
This former Women's Institute Hall has a wealth of history and characterful features. Stepping through the front door, there is a handy porch that is perfect for leaving wellies and coats in after bracing walks on the coast path. The sitting-room has space for all of the family and the lovely wood-burner means it stays cosy throughout the year. The downstairs shower-room offers great flexibility for guests.
Heading up to the first floor, the bedrooms are modern and bright and the family bathroom is complete with bath and separate shower cubicle.
Outside from the kitchen stable-door, there is a small seating-area that is in a courtyard which is shared with two neighbouring residential cottages. In this area there is also parking for one car. The area provides a lovely sunny spot for a morning coffee but please note it is not enclosed and the two neighbouring cottages do drive their cars in and out of the courtyard.
Babes in arms up to six months old are welcome at Halcyon Cottage.
Lose yourself in the fascinating geology of Durdle Door, where millions of years of history can be seen before you – be sure to pack your camera! You can walk from Lulworth Cove (although it is a steep ascent) all the way to Durdle Door or there is a car park closer by for a shorter walk.
The friendly village pub is a stone's throw away from Halycon Cottage so you won't have to venture far for fabulous local food. You could easily spend your whole holiday in this beautiful village and surrounding coastline but should you want to venture further afield then there is plenty to do within a short drive. Just outside of West Lulworth stands the imposing Lulworth Castle, built in the 17th Century – the grounds are a perfect spot for a picnic. Nearby there is Monkey World (an ape rescue centre), as well as the fantastic Bovington Tank Museum. For lovers of history, head to the abandoned village of Tyneham or Lawrence of Arabia's home at Clouds Hill. Whether you are looking to explore or just relax and enjoy your surroundings, Halycon Cottage will provide the perfect base for your unforgettable Dorset holiday.
