The coastal path makes this area great for walkers and an 18 hole golf course means that various outdoor pursuits can be achieved with a stay at Freshwater Bay. Within sight of the bay, there’s also the Needles and Totland just next door to Freshwater. Take an afternoon to explore Totland Bay, breathe in the fresh sea air and watch the ships passing by through the Solent and out into the big wide world.
To the east of the bay, passing through the AONB, you’ll get to Niton and St Catherine’s point. The point has plenty of works to enjoy and on certain days you can head into St Catherine’s lighthouse to explore. This area is the famous home of 16th century smugglers. Be sure to visit their favourite hang out, The Buddle Inn. A classic pub with views of the sea, this is a lovely spot to snuggle down in the winter or bask in the summer sunshine.
