The golden sands stretch across to Burgh Island, where Noel Coward and Agatha Christie attended elegant parties in the 1920s. The shallow waters around the island are perfect for paddlers and there are lots of rockpools to explore with the kids. To the east of Bigbury-on-Sea, you’ll find another popular holiday destination, Salcombe. Around 13 miles away, this picturesque town is a sailor’s paradise. For anyone who loves being out on the water, a visit to Salcombe will make a lovely day out whether you spend it sailing, kayaking, in a dinghy or canoeing.
