KingWelcome to Highfield House, a stunning contemporary home perfectly situated in the South Hams area of south Devon, with the golden sandy beaches and water sports of Bigbury and Bantham close by and in easy reach of cosmopolitan Kingsbridge and Salcombe. The village pub and shop/Post Office are only a short walk away, and other excellent country pubs/restaurants only a short drive in the car. Fabulous walks are right on the doorstep, along the coast and on nearby Dartmoor.
With a huge garden, fabulous living space and four gorgeous bedrooms (fifth bedroom available on request), Highfield House is the perfect retreat for a family holiday or a group of friends looking for a Devonshire getaway. The moment you arrive you will be wowed by this fantastic home. Nestled amongst a collection of brand-new luxury homes, it offers space, style and an enviable location. It is in a quiet location on a lane at the edge of a small village, with far-reaching views to enjoy from certain rooms in the house, which stretch in the direction of the sea and over fields.
The ground floor is open plan, stylishly furnished with splashes of vibrant artwork and created for sociable living. The sitting-area has large comfy sofas in relaxing pastel shades and a Smart TV so you can catch up on the latest movie after a busy day of exploring. With high speed fibre optic broadband and 4G mobile phone coverage should you wish to access the outside world. A warming wood-burner will keep you cosy making this the perfect year-round location. The large dining-area, between the sitting-room and kitchen, seats 12 so you can gather everyone around the table for a catch-up meal. From here there is access through patio doors to the wonderful terrace and garden, when al fresco dining is on the cards.
The chef in the party will feel very much at home in the superbly equipped kitchen, with everything you'll need to cook a holiday meal or something more sophisticated - including a double oven, microwave, filtered drinking water tap and of course the all-important dishwasher. The sleek kitchen has an island with stools for guests to sit and chat whilst dinner is prepared and patio doors out to the terrace and garden. There is also a handy utility-room on the ground floor with a washing machine, tumble-drier and a WC and wash-basin.
Climb the stairs to the first floor where the four bedrooms await, all beautifully furnished and perfect for a great night's sleep as all are fully fitted with black-out blinds (with the snug available as a fifth bedroom if needed). Bedroom one has a blissful super-king size bed (which is 2.15m in length) and the luxury of a stylish en suite shower-room. Bedroom two is bright and airy with far reaching views. It has an en suite shower-room plus 'zip and link' beds so you can choose either twins or a super-king double bed. Bedroom three also has 'zip and link' beds so you have great flexibility and pretty bedroom four has a king-size double bed and a fabulous view.
A snug with a large TV, located on the first floor, is a great chill out room, ideal if guests have different programme choices, or if you wish to find a quiet place to work and study in as there is a desk to perch at and make yourself at home. Also in the snug is a top-quality double sofa bed (super-king size, Danish made) for two extra guests (available on request only - please contact our bookings team if you would like to use this). The family bathroom offers an extra large bath and overhead shower, perfect for a long soak or a freshen up after a busy day.
The gardens at Highfield House are fabulous. The huge patio has dining furniture, sun-loungers, a barbecue and seating plus there's a large lawned area too, the ideal place for the children to let off steam. You can catch the sun all day long in the garden and the cantilever parasol provides welcome shade from the Devonshire rays. There is ample parking (including a covered space in the carport) and charging for your electric vehicle. Your location is fantastic, with nearby country pubs/restaurants including the Oyster Shack, the Journey's End Inn and the Dolphin Inn as well as the much-loved Venus café at Bigbury beach - all within approximately 10 minutes' drive. In addition to the beaches at Bigbury and Bantham, Aymer Cove (National Trust), Wonwell beach (on the Mothecombe estuary) and Burgh Island, all which are in very easy reach. You also have the fabulous headland walks and amazing sunset views. With the best of Devon close by, Highfield House is a great choice for a holiday.
St Ann's Chapel is a delightful village with a well-stocked village shop and the renowned restaurants of the 14th Century Journey's End Inn and the Oyster Shack just over a mile away. The stunning golden beaches of Bigbury (less than two miles away) and Bantham await, perfect for families and water sports lovers who can take advantage of the water sports schools in either location. Iconic Burgh Island is a fabulous spot with miles of sandy beach where kayakers and paddle boarders can enjoy the open waters.
The village is perfectly situated to reach the area's fantastic attractions, many within a 10-minute drive including Ayrmer Cove, the unspoilt villages of Ringmore and Kingston and the estuary beach at Wonwell. The gorgeous coastal towns of Salcombe and Kingsbridge are also close by and perfect for a spot of retail therapy, a Devonshire cream tea - or sailing and sea fishing for the more active!
Golfers should head for Bigbury Golf Club just down the road, whilst the walkers in the party should seek out the miles of countryside rambles from the door or the coast path to discover hidden coves, dramatic seascapes, river estuaries and pretty fishing villages. Nearby Modbury is a charming small market town. There are fabulous walks on Dartmoor (for example at Shipley Bridge, approximately 30 minutes' drive away).
A holiday in the South Hams will be one to remember forever and in Highfield House you have found the perfect holiday home.
