KingThis charming holiday cottage, nestled in the peaceful countryside just outside Cheltenham and the gorgeous Cotswolds, offers the perfect retreat for a tranquil getaway. Set in a rural location but with a local pub and fantastic farm shop within half a mile, it is a place where friends, family or romantic couples can escape the everyday. The Yew Trees combines elegance with comfort, featuring beautifully designed gardens that surround the property with views of the woods beyond and offering both privacy and serenity.
On entry to the garden, you will pass the yew trees which give the property its name. Open the front door and the kitchen will beckon you in with its inviting wood-burner set in a lovely inglenook fireplace, adding warmth and character to the place. The kitchen is well-equipped with all you will need to show off your culinary skills or create a romantic dinner for two. The sitting-room is a spacious and calming room with stylish soft furnishings and boasting window seats for gazing out onto the picturesque gardens. Doors lead out onto the patio, perfect for al fresco dining or simply enjoying the outside. Designed for relaxation, with a cosy open fire, soft, squishy sofa and an over-sized armchair, this delightful room creates an ambiance for evening conversations or reading by the fire. The large Smart TV has Sky for your enjoyment.
Adjacent to the sitting-room is the large conservatory with expansive views of the garden and patio, the sunlight streams in making it a perfect spot to sip a cup of tea or watch the large TV, there is also a super dining-table for relaxed dining.
Make your way upstairs, as the sun goes down, to the two bedrooms which are both serene and calming, decorated in cool neutral tones that promote relaxation. One bedroom features an en suite shower-room and a second shower-room provides added convenience for all guests. The Yew Trees is an idyllic countryside haven, blending traditional charm with modern comforts in a way that makes every moment spent here feel like a serene escape.
With views over the pretty tree-lined hillside and a countryside walk to the local popular Green Dragon Inn with roaring log fires and a warm welcome, you can relax and just enjoy your gorgeous location. The pub also has a well-stocked little shop, which champions local produce alongside ice cream from Devon, ale from Cornwall and great wines from France, so if you don't fancy a trek to the supermarket you don't need to go far to stock up on tasty treats.
If you do decide to explore further afield, you are just five miles from the cosmopolitan town of Cheltenham and a plethora of honey-coloured stone market towns and chocolate box villages such as Cirencester 'the capital of the Cotswolds' and Bibury, described by William Morris as 'the most beautiful village in England'. Dunkerton's Cider Mill is a short drive away, where you will find a contemporary bar perfect for stocking up on organic cider or perhaps visit Holland Cooper, a trendy boutique with a super cool bar, street food, delicatessen and cafe.
For those who enjoy browsing for antiques, Burford should be on your list and don't forget to stop and enjoy the refreshments in one of the many quaint tea rooms when visiting Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold. For a lovely walk, don your walking boots, pack your pooch in the car and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the woodlands surrounding the lake at Miserden, just a few miles away.
