Nestled in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, in between the medieval city of York and the market town of Malton, you will find Lodge Cottage. Set in its own spacious grounds with lawns, trees and shrubs; the cottage, built of local stone and with many original features, welcomes you into its cosy interior.

The entrance hall features a church pew and tiled floor, excellent for sitting down to take off those muddy boots after a walk through the countryside. Through to the separate dining-room with an open fire and a farmhouse table ideal for everyone to get together and share a good Yorkshire feast. The kitchen provides everything the cooks amongst you will need to whip up a delicious meal. Back through the entrance hall and up a couple of stairs the cosy sitting-room has patio doors opening onto the garden and plenty of comfy sofas to relax into after a long day sightseeing. Light the open fire and spend some quality time just chatting or maybe play one of the many games the owner has kindly left for you. Also on this ground floor you will find a large bedroom and separate shower-room. At the end of the day climb the stairs to the two further bedrooms, which share a bathroom. The sumptuous linens and country styling will ensure a good night's sleep.

The extended garden is a delight, children will love playing on the lawn while you sit and watch, or maybe you will spot that bird you have always wanted to see.

Nearby is Hovingham, an estate village full of characterful cottages and a beck running through the centre. Here you will find a lovely local store for buying that extra special local ingredient and a bakery, because you have to have pudding!! For the evening you could try the Michelin star restaurant, but remember to book in advance.

Further afield is York, full of history, shopping and many pubs and restaurants. A walk around the walls, with stops in quaint tea shops along the way, is a good start. Or maybe you would prefer to visit a museum or art gallery, the city has many to choose from. In Malton, the food capital of North Yorkshire, park in the square and wander around the streets taking in the many independent shops and maybe stopping off for a taste of Yorkshire at one of the wonderful eateries.

For children you are not far from Flamingo Land Resort or the coast where there are beautiful golden sands, great for building sandcastles. Or why not take a walk through the North York Moors National Park and blow the cobwebs away.

Whatever you choose, your stay at Lodge Cottage will be full of wonderful and interesting experiences, and you may need to book again to fit it all in!
