DoubleGam Bridge Cottage is an absolute gem! Set along a country lane in the heart of north Cornwall, it has been flawlessly renovated and impeccably styled to offer an extra special getaway for up to four guests. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is a truly relaxing base from which to explore the natural beauty of the north Cornish coastline and Bodmin Moor.
The owners have an exceptional eye for detail, cleverly combining the cottage's original charm and character with all the mod-cons and luxuries of modern day living. An open plan social space awaits to welcome you and sets the scene for many a happy holiday memory together. From preparing treats together in the kitchen-area to lingering over a much-deserved holiday brunch at the dining-table or cosying up in front of the wood-burning stove after a bracing walk along the coastal footpath.
Two boutique style bedrooms ensure a good night's sleep, and bedroom one can be set up as super-king double for that extra bit of luxury or twin beds, the choice is yours. The bathroom serves up its own slice of luxury with a separate bath and shower and if that's not enough there's another shower-room on the ground floor as well.
Outside, the magic continues. The private courtyard invites you to switch off and relax from sunrise to sundowners and up a set of steps is a larger lawned area that will delight young and old alike. This area is shared with the owners who very occasionally stay in their property nearby, but when they do, they are always mindful of your privacy. There is a small stream in their garden which you are welcome to use but please ensure that children are supervised at all times in this area.
From this countryside location getting out and about just couldn't be easier. The beaches of Polzeath and Daymer Bay are only a short drive away and there are dramatic seascapes to discover along the coastal footpath. The pretty coastal villages of Port Isaac and Boscastle with their narrow streets, lined with fishermen's cottages, are a delight and you will marvel at the majestic setting of King Arthur's Castle at Tintagel. Take the foot ferry from Rock over to popular Padstow to browse amongst the shops and galleries, take a boat trip, or indulge yourself at one of Rick Stein's many eateries.
Ramblers will delight as they explore the tors and open landscape across Bodmin Moor and if you want to resort to pedal power, the start of the renowned Camel Trail is close - perhaps enjoying a hearty breakfast at the Snail's Pace cafe before you set off.
For more cycling, the trails at the National Trust's Lanhydrock Estate are proving to be quite a hit; whilst you are there, take the opportunity to wander through the listed gardens and the historic house.
This area has an abundance of great food and drink to tempt you - the local farm shops and cafes at Boscastle, St Kew and Delabole and the foodie pubs at St Kew and St Tudy are sure to be on your list - well after all that outdoor adventure you deserve to treat yourself!
So what are you waiting for - check yourself into Gam Bridge Cottage for a holiday to remember.
