SingleStanding on guard at the entrance to the beautiful Lamellen Estate, on the banks of the River Allen, the cosy interiors of this riverside retreat, sit comfortably alongside the historic fabric of the building, creating the warmest of Cornish welcomes. Spend your days discovering scenery-packed coastal and moorland walks, exploring quintessential fishing villages and historic harbours, and having fun times on fabulous beaches, it's just the ticket for a great holiday in north Cornwall.
The waters of the river wrap around the garden of Lamellen Lodge (please be mindful of young children and dogs), with its lush lawn, sheltered terrace and plenty of space for sitting and soaking up the sunshine and leading up the drive, there are beautiful walks through the extensive gardens of Lamellen House - what a wonderful way to start or finish your day.
This three-bedroom Victorian gatehouse has been lovingly furnished with those much-needed modern comforts that blend seamlessly with the charm and character of the property. There's a semi-open flow to the living spaces that lead from one cosy and comforting area to another. The country-style kitchen/dining-room carries food and eating at its very heart but if you want to eat out this area is awash with great places to eat and drink. The entrance hall doubles up as a snug, ideal for curling up on the sofa with one of the many books provided and on chillier days you can fire up the wood-burner in the sitting-room and raise a glass to those around you. The sweetest of double doors hide the stairs, leading you up to the endearing bedrooms, all with wonderful views over the garden and river, so no one misses out.
Set alongside the A39, you have great access to everything this special part of Cornwall has to offer. So pack up the car, and a picnic, and set off on your adventures.
If you want to catch a wave or two, Trebarwith Strand and Polzeath are firm favourites and for gentler waters, Daymer Bay is gorgeous. The wonderful sailing mecca of Rock is close by and here you can hop on the foot ferry, well actually you sit down (!), over the estuary to trendy Padstow, where gastronomic delights await.
Coastal walks are in abundance and the dramatic cliffs are the perfect setting, and for a complete contrast, there are many paths and sites to discover across the stunning landscape of Bodmin Moor.
The pretty coastal villages of Port Isaac and Boscastle are well worth a visit and history buffs will love stunning Tintagel Castle, Pencarrow House and Lanhydrock.
Cycling along The Camel Trail as it wends its way from Bodmin Moor all the way out to the coast, is ideal for the whole family so hire some bikes and start pedalling.
What fun and adventure awaits.
