This cosy, compact, delightful bolthole for two is set in a wonderfully tranquil hamlet in north Dorset with village shops and a choice of two pubs within two miles.

Built in local stone, Owl's Nest Cottage was once the home of a breeding pair of Barn Owls. The cottage is all on one level; the well-equipped kitchen has a sitting-area with a wood-burner for snug evenings in and the dining-area in the conservatory allows for meals with a view. There is a comfy king-size bed and the en suite has a fully tiled shower cubicle with drench head shower.

Owl's Nest Cottage is on the edge of the Blackmore Vale and provides all you need for a very comfortable stay. The conservatory/dining-room is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee whilst planning your adventure for the day. The outside space has parking and a patio with furniture and there is a store with a freezer for guests' use; miles of paths and tracks are accessible from your doorstep.

The unobtrusive owners live on site and are happy to help in any way.

The fabulous Jurassic Coast is a 50 minute drive; visit Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door or for the energetic, Golden Cap gives the most wonderful perspective of this World Heritage coastline, a real adventure for walkers.

The market town of Sherborne, seven miles away, has two castles and an abbey; Sherborne Castle is a 16th Century Tudor mansion built by Sir Walter Raleigh, with wonderful gardens. The castle plays host to a wide variety of events during the year, open from April to October.

Explore the green rolling hills and market towns of Hardy's novels; Shaftesbury, one of the oldest and highest towns in England, has magnificent views over the Blackmore Vale. The local town of Stalbridge is one mile away and has a fabulous fish and chip shop, a butcher, Chinese takeaway and an award-winning independent supermarket with a bakery and cafe.

Well behaved dogs are welcome at Owl's Nest Cottage and will soon make friends with the owners' gentle labrador.
