Bedroom 1
DoubleA cosy little bolthole nestled in the rugged countryside of the north coast. Ideally located to explore this stunning area of Cornwall, only a five-minute drive to the beautiful beaches of Chapel Porth and Trevaunance Cove and half a mile from the pretty village of St Agnes with a plethora of pubs, cafes, takeaways and shops. What more could you need for your break?
Follow the path from the car parking space (about 50 meters away) and up the beautiful granite steps which lead up to the entrance. Receive a whole-hearted welcome when you open the door into the cosy open plan living-room, which is warmed by a wood-burner and styled with vintage, eclectic fabrics and furnishings. There is a simple kitchen-area with a hob and combination microwave which is sufficient but also a good reason to make the most of the local eateries. From the first floor you have far-reaching views across fields and countryside, you might also spy a chough or two in the fields which are part of the owners' organic smallholding where they produce their own vegetables, fruit and organic goats' milk (you may see the owners at work while you enjoy your morning coffee).
Following the stairs down, you will find the cosy bedroom and shower-room. The bedroom has such a snug feel with a charming vintage bedframe but of course top quality mattress, heavy quilts and warming hues for a peaceful night's slumber. The shower-room has a large walk-in shower which is perfect for a refreshing yourself after a day exploring the coast path. Open the stable door out to a sheltered patio (which is fully enclosed and dog escape proof) with a sitting-area covered with a glass roof. The perfect spot to put your feet up with a refreshing beer on the deck chair at the end of the day.
If you love walking (and your dog does too) this spot is perfect with the coastal footpath which passes right beside the cottage. There are paths to Trevaunance Cove in one direction, and Chapel Porth in the other (please be aware the path can be muddy in the winter and it is downhill to the beaches). St Agnes Beacon is a fabulous walk too with 360 degree views right over Cornwall.
The beaches here are renowned for surfing and other forms of wave riding with surf, paddle board and kayak tuition and hire all available locally. The sunsets over the coast are stunning, enjoy these from the beach or take a thermos with you along the coast path and snuggle up under a blanket watching the sky turning every shade of orange, pink and red, that reflect in the sea. Once darkness descends, stargazing is a must as the night sky twinkles with countless spots of light.
Beacon Top Bottom is perfectly located to explore this dramatic part of Cornwall with many stunning beaches only a short drive away such as the huge beach of Perranporth or the stunning sand dunes at Gwithian. For those wishing to explore further afield, the Eden Project, the popular seaside resort of St Ives, the shopping city of Truro and the Maritime Town of Falmouth all make an easy day excursion and are just a short drive away.
