May events on the Isle of Wight

With the May Day, the spring bank holiday and the school holidays this month, May is a busy time of the year. We’re sure you can squeeze in an Isle of Wight holiday, whether it’s a quick trip with the dog, a romantic break or a family holiday, you’ll find something to suit you on the island this May.

Lace up your boots and walk the entire coastline of the island. Join the thousands who make this pilgrimage each year and learn a little more about the Isle of Wight. Watch the white cliffs of Freshwater Bay rise from the sea as you clamber through the moss and scrub of the AONB on the south of the isle. See the pretty villages of St Helens and Bembridge before teetering along the edge of the Bembridge ledge, a well known local landmark.

Or find a nice coffee shop and let everyone else walk those miles while you relax with a gorgeous sea view. I know which one I’d rather do.

Spend a special day out on the Isle of Wight at these lovely events across the island:

28th April to 13th May: Isle of Wight Walking festival

12th May: Wolverton Folk and Blues Fair

13th May: Havenstreet Heritage Goods Day on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway

20th May: Isle of Wight festival of transport

26th May to 3rd June: Flora and Fauna ID trail at Bembridge Windmill

26th May to 3rd June: Blackgang Chine’s Wild West Week

26th May to 3rd June: Carisbrooke Castle Creepy crawly castle

27th to 28th May: Mottistone Manor House Open Days

29th to 31st May: Victoria’s fabulous garden party at Osborne House

Spend a spring day exploring the botanical gardens at Ventnor or taking some time out on Queen Victoria’s private beach at Osborne House. May is the time to get outdoors and welcome in the warmer weather, summer is definitely on the way.

Don’t take our word for it, plan to stay in an Isle of Wight holiday cottage and experience the island for yourself.
