In recent times the pub has been subject to the harsh weather, indeed a sign states "In rough weather please use the other door". Overlooked by rugged cliffs and the pretty village of Staithes, the beach here is sandy and great for fossil hunters (do take care around the cliff face). Dogs are allowed year round and there is no lifeguard cover.
