We had a couple of great meals from here. Worth a visit.

Could do a lot better

Friendly and helpful service with good food BUT the toilets are appalling with very old stained floor lino. I always judge a pub/restaurant by the state of its toilet facilities.

Nearby beach

Eastbourne has a magnificent five miles of seafront with beautiful beaches, a long promenade, Victorian pier and bandstand. The beaches are well-kept and perfect for family days out and swimming when conditions allow. When refreshments are in order, there are plenty of cafes to choose from.

Nearby walk

Thanks to lovethesouthdowns.org we can bring you a choice of delightful countryside walks which start from the Eight Bells pub in the centre of the village. Choose either a three mile stroll or just over seven miles. Both routes are hilly but well worth the effort for the fabulous views.

Nearby town

Jevington is a pretty village situated in the beautiful South Downs with a traditional church and village pub. The cosmopolitan town of Eastbourne is a short drive away so Jevington is ideally placed to exploring the area.

Wonderful views at Cuckmere Haven

We visited Cuckmere Haven and the views were stunning. The beach itself is pebbly but there is so much history connected to this wonderful area that it is well worth a visit. One of my favourite places to be.

This fabulous pub has it's very own farm which supplies all the local ingredients used in the menu. With traditional interiors and a gorgeous outside space for al fresco dining, call in for lunch or dinner.

Found next to the grand church in Alftriston, The Clergy House was the National Trusts first ever property. Built in the early 15th century this Wealden hall-house sits amidst rolling countryside and overlooks the Cuckmere river. The cottage garden and orchard are a delight.

Lovely old National Trust House

We visited The Clergy House and had a truly enjoyable experience. We took the guided tour on offer in the garden and the lady was very interesting and informative as was the guide inside the house. This made all the difference as we learnt so much. Such a lovely place to visit.

Centrally located on the high street, this traditional pub offers hearty food, warming log fires and real ales. Everyone is welcome here, including your four legged friends.

Delightful old country pub

We ate at The George Inn on several occasions and each time the food was delicious. The pub itself is cosy with a lovely ambience and the staff friendly and welcoming. Definitely one of our favourite places to eat.

A traditional shop in the centre of the village. There's a delicatessen offering cheese and meats alongside baked goods and local produce including wine.

Lovely well stocked village store

This little village store was delightful. It had so many items on sale and the deli was superb. We bought items from there several times which we ate in the garden in the evening with a bottle of wine.
