Ysgubor is nestled in an elevated countryside haven with far reaching, captivating views across seven counties towards the coast, yet only a ten minute drive from the vibrant seaside town of Aberystwyth and the spectacular, rugged Cardiganshire coast with award-winning beaches where dolphins are often spotted in the bays. Explore the coast path, discovering glorious sandy beaches with clear waters and craggy coves, take in the spectacular views from the rugged clifftops or chase waterfalls, try white water rafting, explore Welsh castles or simply take time out and enjoy the splendour of the idyllic surroundings.
Ysgubor is a gorgeous, recently refurbished Welsh cottage. The tasteful accommodation, which sleeps six, is set over two floors. On the ground floor discover the spacious welcoming open plan kitchen, dining and living space with large, comfortable corner sofa. Gather together around the warming wood-burner set in a beautiful stone fireplace to unwind in front of the Smart TV or make use of the large table for leisurely family meals or an evening of board games. The well-equipped kitchen offers the ideal sociable space for your party, and all the chef needs to cook up some tasty meals. Throw open the patio doors for a cooling breeze on summer days or relax, sitting in the sun, enjoying the idyllic, rural landscape in perfect bliss. There is also a useful ground floor shower-room and utility cupboard.
Climb the stairs after a day in the fresh Welsh air to the peaceful, well-appointed bedrooms. For flexibility each room offers 'zip and link' beds, which can be made up as twins or king-size doubles. The luxurious sofa in the principal bedroom is perfect for some peaceful reading time. The views are spellbinding, stretching across to the Llyn peninsula. The exquisite bathroom is ideal for some holiday pampering; relax in the deep bath after a day's walking, or some may prefer a hot shower after a swim in the sea.
Take sunny breakfasts on the patio or star gaze on summer evenings towards the clear skies in the moonlight after the perfect day.
Larger parties may wish to book Ysgubor and Cwmcaseg (5811) (sleeping five) nearby, every consideration has been taken for the privacy of guests at both cottages.
Aberystwyth is a very short drive away, offering supermarkets and a plethora of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Pack a picnic and enjoy a beach day or stroll along the mile-long Victorian promenade. A fun thing to do is to take a trip on the restored steam train through almost 12 miles of open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery. Learn about the history, myth and legends of silver-lead mining at Llwernog or for the more energetic discover magnificent world-famous waterfalls at Devil's Bridge. Popular eateries in Aberystwyth are Baravin on the seafront or Ultracomida, a Spanish/Welsh tapas bar. On a summer's day enjoy fish, chips and an ice cream al fresco from the cafe on the promenade.
Aberaeron is a picture postcard seaside town with colourful buildings, vibrant boutique shops and direct access to the beach. Dine in one of the good restaurants or wander the farmers market on the first and third Saturday of the month.
Take a riverside walk along the Rheidol and Ystwyth. Ceredigion's highest mountain is about 15 miles inland in the Cambrian Mountains. The Vale of Rheidol railway, established in 1902 some locomotives and carriages are still in use today. Choose a trip inland on the narrow gauge steam railway, the best way to see the spectacular landscape and waterfalls of the Rheidol Valley between Aberystwyth and Devil's Bridge. Children love the special Christmas excursions when Santa is on board.
A holiday must is a dolphin spotting boat trip from the pretty seaside town of New Quay. The picturesque town has a designated Blue Flag beach with golden sands, clear water and a sheltered harbour. Browse the seaside shops or take lunch in one of the many cafes and restaurants.
Regardless of the season, come rain or shine a memorable Welsh holiday awaits in Ysgubor.
