Situated in the pretty hamlet of Gerrans, just a stroll away from the charming seaside village of Portscatho on the beautiful Roseland peninsula, One Old School Cottages is a charming holiday home, perfect for a family or group of friends looking for a Cornish escape. Your arrival journey in Cornwall will take you through the unspoilt charm of the Roseland peninsula where charming villages, verdant countryside and magical seascapes await.

One Old School Cottages is a link-detached home with secluded garden, ideal for holidays with your four-legged friends. The ground floor has plenty of space for all, including a large separate sitting-room with cosy furnishings and access to the garden through the conservatory. Enjoy sociable dining in the separate dining-room next to the kitchen and the ground floor also has a handy utility-room with washing machine and tumble-drier. The conservatory has a small table and chairs where you can enjoy your morning coffee, afternoon tea and everything in between. You will also find a bathroom on the ground floor with bath and shower, ideal for rinsing salty toes after a busy beach day.

The first floor has three pretty bedrooms, a double with king-size bed, twin room suitable for children or adults and a fun bunk room which the children will love. There is also a family shower-room on this floor.

Outside, One Old School Cottages is a delight. The enclosed back garden has a small lawn surrounded by mature shrubs and a patio with garden furniture, perfect for al fresco dining from dawn until dusk. The village school is next door so you may hear the happy sounds of children playing during term time. Located in the centre of the village and with easy access to the Roseland, welcome to your holiday abode.

Named after the Celtic Saint Gereint, Gerrans is a peaceful place with an excellent pub which has an amazing outside grill, The Standard Inn. The adjoining village of Portscatho is a stroll away (downhill so be prepared for the uphill walk on the return journey) and is home to a good selection of cafes and independent shops. This is the ideal place to stock up on picnic provisions or sit overlooking the sea with freshly brewed coffee or an ice cream in hand, bliss!

The coast path runs through Portscatho village so walkers can explore for miles in either direction. Turn left along the path and Porthcurnick beach awaits, a gorgeous spot and home to the Hidden Hut where guests sit side by side on wooden benches to enjoy the freshest of local produce with spectacular views. There are many other lovely walks from the doorstep which will take you to Towan beach and along Percuil River and many of these walks have the advantage of being circular. If the chef wants a night off there are plenty of dining options in Portscatho but if you'd prefer to cook, head for Pendower Farm Shop where you will find the freshest of local produce, fish, veg, dairy and meat for the barbecue.

You may decide to stay local, but if you do choose to take the car out head for the vibrant village of St Mawes just a few minutes away. Here you will find lots of places to eat; we recommend fish and chips from the paper eaten on the seawall overlooking the harbour, the perfect holiday pastime. Kayaks and paddleboards can be hired from the harbour, and this is the ideal way to explore the many pretty coves and inlets close by. A passenger ferry plies the water to the maritime town of Falmouth or take the smaller water taxi to lesser-known areas such as Place, the epitome of peace and tranquility.

Further afield the mighty biomes of the Eden Project await, or perhaps a visit to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, neglected since WWII, discovered thirty years ago and now restored to their former glory. There are lots of other options when it comes to gardens including Trelissick, Trebah and Durgan.

However you plan to spend your days, One Old School Cottages is perfectly placed to explore the delights of the area.
