KingPerfectly situated in the heart of the charming seaside village of St Mawes on the stunning Roseland peninsula, Rosslyn is a gorgeous traditional cottage, beautifully styled and in an elevated position to make the most of the views, just a short downhill stroll away from the bustling harbourside and a collection of pretty beaches, the walk back is uphill or up steps so do keep in mind to reserve some energy. This picture-postcard, terraced cottage has been lovingly created to marry traditional with contemporary, whilst retaining its original Cornish charm. The ideal base for a family holiday or getaway with friends, from the moment you arrive you will be captivated!
Take the path to the front door where you can take in the view from the elevated position looking out over the rooftops towards the harbour. The sitting-room is a delight; decorated in neutral shades you will be cosy here whatever the weather. The Smart TV is perfect for a movie night, remember to bring your log-in details should you wish to use any of the apps. The dining-area is spacious and bright, ideal for gathering around the table to plan an exciting day ahead. A step leads up into the stunning kitchen; this recent addition adds contemporary flair and style and it has all the equipment you will need to create a culinary masterpiece. A handy shower-room completes the ground floor, ideal for rinsing salty toes.
Climb the stairs to the first floor where four restful bedrooms await. Bedroom one has blissful estuary views and a king-size bed, plus the benefit of an en suite shower-room, which is accessed via a couple of steps. Bedroom two is a single bedded room with lovely views whilst bedroom three has twin beds, ideal for either children or adults. Due to the clever design of this holiday home, bedroom four has level access to the rear deck and lawned garden. With its king-size bed this room is bound to be a favourite. The family bathroom has a bath with a rainfall shower overhead, perfect for a long soak after a busy day or for a refreshing cleanse in the morning. At the top of the stairs the landing splits, leading to the three bedrooms at the front and to the new extension at the rear where you will find the family bathroom and bedroom four.
Outside, Rosslyn is a dream. The elevated front garden looks out towards the bay, and you can sit and enjoy the Cornish sunshine here. To the rear you will find a decked area and lawn surrounded by mature shrubs with estuary views from the top of the garden. Private parking is available for one medium-sized car and additional parking in the village long stay car park can be found a short walk away. Welcome to your blissful Cornish cottage!
St Mawes is a great place for a getaway with all you need on your doorstep. For provisions you will find a number of grocery stores in addition to a good selection of cafes, waterside restaurants and a fabulous deli. Indeed, you may decide to stay local and never take your car out!
Adventurers can hire a paddle board or kayak from the harbour and explore the crystal-clear waters, secret coves and inlets nearby, or perhaps just laze on the beach enjoying the sunshine. St Mawes Castle stands proudly overlooking the Carrick Roads, just a short walk uphill from the village, this impressive monument is definitely worth a visit. Walkers will be in heaven with miles of coast path to discover. Head for St Just in Roseland where you will find 'the most beautiful churchyard on earth' as described by John Betjeman.
In the evening sit on the sea wall and enjoy the freshest fish and chips from the paper, the perfect holiday pastime, or catch the passenger ferry and spend the day exploring the fascinating maritime town of Falmouth with interesting museums and an eclectic assortment of independent shops. A smaller ferry will take you to lesser-known Place Manor, quite a magical spot and ideal for a picnic lunch and swim in a secluded cove.
If you do decide to take the car out, head for the iconic biomes of the Eden Project or one of many interesting gardens such as Trelissick, Trebah and Durgan. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, lost in time during WWI and now returned to their former glory should definitely be on your 'to do' list.
However you plan to spend your precious holiday time, Rosslyn is perfectly placed for your Cornish getaway.
