Wind your way along the country lanes to this picture-perfect cottage, nestled in the rural hamlet of Tremail in the heart of north Cornwall. Serving up the best of both worlds, this is the perfect getaway for those who want to embrace moorland adventures and have easy access to the pretty fishing villages and fabulous beaches along Cornwall's stunning north coast.

Named after Tolkien's fictional valley in 'Middle Earth', Rivendell means a place of sanctuary and this cottage certainly lives up to its name. Dating back to the mid-18th Century it is packed full of character and charm, with exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, painted stonework and not one but two large inglenook fireplaces each with their own warming wood-burner, you'll be cosied up in no time at all. The sleek and modern kitchen contrasts perfectly with the overall traditional styling throughout the rest of the cottage, creating wonderfully warm and welcoming interiors.

The large, sunny courtyard invites you outside, offering up plenty of al fresco space for dining or simply kicking back and relaxing as you immerse yourself in the tranquillity and calm that surrounds.

Heading out for the day? You are in for a treat. For the ramblers amongst you, there are endless miles of country walks right on your doorstep and there is much more to discover across the wild open landscape of Bodmin Moor with its gravity-defying rock formations, moorland villages, and disused tin mines dotted across the landscape.

For a complete change of scenery head to the coast, where the coastal footpath offers up stunning sea vistas around every corner, if you want to ride the waves, build sandcastles, or simply dip your toes in the water Trebarwith and Cracking Haven will delight.

The pretty harbourside village of Boscastle is quite charming and there is Arthurian myth and legend to discover at Tintagel. Port Isaac is well and truly on the tourist map, home to TV's 'Doc Martin', acclaimed chef Nathan Outlaw and 'The Fisherman's Friends'. If you time it right, you might hear them singing on the Quay.

Pencarrow and Lanhydrock (National Trust) reveal more of Cornwall's past along with glorious gardens, and parkland with a great network of cycling and walking trails, and for more cycling, The Camel Trail is a must.
