TwinIn what can only be described as a truly magical location on the Roseland peninsula, enjoying the most stunning sea views and featuring a beautiful garden, The Engine House is one of Cornwall's very special holiday homes.
Step over the threshold into the ground floor open plan living space, at one end are two comfy sofas just perfect to relax in after a day out exploring or chatting with family or friends. In the cooler months and evenings, fire up the wood-burner and be mesmerised by the dancing flames. The other end of the space is dedicated to cooking and eating with a solid wood table in the corner and a step up into the stylish kitchen beyond, complete with the electric Aga cooker and Belfast sink, there's also another sofa, so put your feet up and relax whilst someone else does the cooking.
One of the real treasures of The Engine House is the garden, surrounded by Cornish hedges and mature planting that creates welcome areas with shade for when a retreat from the hot midday sun is required. The garden really is a space for the whole family to enjoy, with space to dine outside, maybe a picnic under the trees or a barbecue and there's even a swing set!
When it's time to slip under the covers to recharge for a new day, climb the stairs to find two delightful bedrooms, the first is furnished with a comfortable king-size wooden bed and the second with twin beds, both rooms are spacious and have lovely views of the garden. You will also find the bathroom on the first floor, bring the bubbles or bath salts and sink into the warm water after a day walking the coast path, with taps in the middle there may even be room for two!
The Engine House has parking for two cars, a real treat in this location. The friendly owners live next door and always respect your privacy, leaving you to enjoy all the property has to offer.
The Engine House is ideally located for a peaceful stay, St Anthony's Head is a hidden gem on the Roseland peninsula and you will be spoilt for choice for gorgeous scenic walks across the coastal path. Take a stroll up to St Anthony's lighthouse and enjoy the views or head the other way to visit Towan Beach and drop into the Thirstea Co for a refreshment on the way!
If you fancy a change in scenery why not head to Portscatho where there are plenty of restaurants and cafes such as the local pub, The Plume of Feathers, and you could even treat yourself to a home-made ice cream from Scathos to enjoy on the beach. Just a short walk from Portscatho is Porthcurnick beach where you can dine at the Hidden Hut and enjoy the views of the beach.
Further afield Cornwall has many attractions to keep you busy; why not explore The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Europe's largest garden restoration project, or visit the Eden Project where you can walk through the incredible rainforest, Mediterranean biomes and outdoor gardens.
