Zip and linkKerenza is Cornish for love, and you will truly fall in love with this romantic nook found in peaceful, rural surroundings within the parish of Crowan and which sits well for both north and south coast lovers. This heavenly dog-friendly retreat is 'just for two' plus two pet pooches (who will just adore local walks along countryside lanes and footpaths) - so don't forget to pack your walking boots for revitalising rambles with the doggies come rain or shine.
Kerenza is an eco-friendly passive house. A passive house requires the building to be built to the highest standards in terms of air quality and energy efficiency whilst maintaining a constant interior temperature. This ensures that this cosy, warm and welcoming home is simply perfect as a year-round holiday destination.
With easy living accommodation all on ground floor level, the bedroom has a 'zip and link' king-size bed with gorgeous bedding inviting lazy mornings, perhaps with a cheeky breakfast in bed, followed by a zingy reviving shower next door in the modern shower-room.
The open plan living area has a kitchen well-equipped for keen cooks and enthusiastic diners and is tastefully decorated to reflect the eco ethos of the friendly owners who live next door.
Outside, there is a lovely lawned area and pretty patio furniture for leisurely lunches and clotted cream afternoon teas. Imagine pre-dinner drinks whilst taking in the countryside sounds and aromas whilst you relax or perhaps plan your evening menu. There is also an external hot water shower for dog washing/wetsuits/boots or an al fresco shower if you're feeling brave!
Should you be tempted to visit further afield, the rugged north coast's villages of Portreath, Porthtowan and Perranporth are fabulous for beach days and not far away by car in one direction, with the magnificent three miles of golden sands that is Hayle Towans in the opposite direction. Catching the train from St Erth to St Ives - which needs no introduction - is just the most darling way to arrive here and where fish and chips, pasties, home-made fudge and ice creams are customary seaside treats for the discerning.
The harbour village of Porthleven is a charming spot to while away an afternoon, you can watch the boats bobbing on the water, explore the little shops and galleries or enjoy a thirst-quenching pint or chilled glass of wine by the water.
The Minack Theatre at Porthcurno, St Michael's Mount at Marazion and the Jubilee Pool at Penzance warrant a gander as does the Cornish capital, Truro with its majestic cathedral and Falmouth for its many festivals, Pendennis Castle, National Maritime Museum, shops, restaurants, boat trips and beaches… we could go on.....
However you plan to spend your well-earned days off, returning to Kerenza at the end of another busy day will feel like a welcoming hug as you relax and unwind and plan tomorrow's adventures.
