Bunk-bedsNestled in a peaceful countryside setting close to Cornwall's breathtaking north and south coast, Gorse Cottage is an idyllic spot for those looking for a tranquil escape, no matter the season - and perfect for horse lovers, too! Sleeping four and dog-friendly, this welcoming cottage is ideal for families or couples hoping to stay somewhere a little off-the-beaten-track.
Gorse Cottage is located in Crowan, a hamlet perfectly placed between the north and south coasts. The drive up to Gorse Cottage is pretty special, take your time winding your way through the country lanes passing gorse-filled hedgerows, you will know you have arrived when you pass the owner's stables and equestrian training field. The wonderful countryside views are the first to greet you on your arrival.
Step inside and you will be delighted. The cosy open plan living space has a cheerful yellow sofa perched around the wood-burner - the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. The wooden dining-table and chairs are conveniently placed next to the window so you can enjoy the endless countryside views whilst you dine, and from there, you'll find the lovely kitchen, where you can brew your morning coffee or tea and prepare your holiday meals.
There are two bedrooms in Gorse Cottage. Bedroom one is a rather fabulous double room, with an en suite shower-room, and bedroom two is a sweet room, with a triple sleeper bunk-bed that can accommodate a couple in the lower bunk (small double) or 3 small children (please check with the booking office) and an en suite bathroom. The children are sure to love this pretty room!
Outside, you have a choice of places to sit back and soak up the best of outdoor living. The cute patio is a delightfully sunny spot with outdoor seating, and perfect for your morning coffee or evening drinks. There's a lovely garden space, too, with a picnic table for leisurely lunches or simply spending a little time enjoying those countryside views. And of course, we can't forget to mention your friendly neighbourhood horses who might come up to the fence and say hello, or the equally friendly owners who live next door. You'll also see why the cottage is named Gorse Cottage - with plenty of brilliant Cornish gorse in abundance!
If you're looking to head out and about, there's much to explore within easy reach. The bonus of Gorse Cottage's fantastic location means it's very easy to reach both coastlines. The stunning coast around Hayle, Godrevy and Gwithian is nearby, where you can enjoy afternoon picnics in the sand, swim in the sea, go surfing or catch a spectacular sunset. Porthtowan and St Agnes are also nearby, with glorious coastal path walks and lovely little spots for coffee, cake or lunch, and St Ives makes for a fantastic place for a day out. Why not catch the little branch line train from St Erth and enjoy the sublime views along the way, the little ones will love it.
Along the south west coast, Porthleven is a delightful fishing town, with some excellent restaurants and independent shops. You'll also find a number of dog-friendly places to walk within the area, including Tehidy Country Park and the beautiful coast path - just don't forget to keep them on the lead near the clifftops!
