Dannett Farmhouse is quite simply charming! Approached along leafy lanes in an idyllic countryside setting, with far reaching views of rolling fields and pastures, this semi-detached 400-year-old farmhouse is the perfect escape away from it all, yet if you want to explore the treasures and delights of the glorious south Cornish coastline they are only a short drive away.

Wonderfully welcoming, Dannett Farmhouse is beautifully presented, cleverly combining traditional character and charm with modern day style and flair. The fabulous farmhouse kitchen/breakfast-room, complete with its obligatory range cooker (an electric oven is also provided), is the epitome of county living and the ideal place for all to enjoy hearty holiday breakfasts. The sitting-room beckons you to relax and watch a family film on the huge TV snuggled up in front of the wood-burner, which is sure to keep you warm and toasty whatever the weather.

The four bedrooms are gorgeous and the beds dressed to impress with lovely throws and cushions, one bedroom is on the ground floor, perfect for those who are less mobile or would like a little more privacy.

Step outside and fire up the barbecue to enjoy meals in the large sunny garden, the games-room (shared with Dannett Stable) provides great entertainment for young and old alike, and there are miles of beautiful woodland walks to explore and even fishing lakes for you to cast your line - it really is quite special.

Sharing this country idyll is Dannett Stable (4702), perfect if friends and family want to join you, along with the owners' son and family who farm the grazing sheep and cattle in the neighbouring fields, and not forgetting Dusty the donkey and Silver the Shetland pony, free-range chickens and guineafowl who are quite likely to make an appearance at some point during your stay - it's your very own Countryfile!

With so much to do you could ditch the car for the week but if you are up for a day out this is also a great base for exploring.

Spend time wandering around the traditional harbourside town of Looe where you can browse around the shops and galleries, join a fishing trip, indulge in some good old fish and chips or hop over to Looe Island to discover rare plants and wildlife. The pretty fishing village of Polperro, a favourite with artists, offers a more olde-worlde charm, and a little further down the coast is the exclusive waterfront town of Fowey.

A day at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park with its Tudor house, beautiful gardens, miles of walks and artisan workshops will be a delight and the National Trust houses and gardens at Cotehele and Lanhydrock are equally charming. If you want to spend a day on the beach head to nearby Seaton and Downderry and for some city culture, take a trip over the river Tamar to the historic Maritime City of Plymouth to see where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America and Sir Francis Drake played that infamous game of bowls.
