Super-kingGreat Eckworthy - The Barn is a stunning barn conversion, beautifully crafted and perfectly positioned in the rural hamlet of Buckland Brewer in the north Devon countryside yet only a car journey away from the stunning north coast. The Barn has been awarded 5* Gold by Visit England again in November 2024 and graded MI accessible under the National Accessible Scheme, meaning it has been adapted for less mobile and elderly guests, making it a popular choice for multi-generational families. Surrounded by peace and tranquility, The Barn offers the ideal escape you will want to return year after year!
The Barn has everything you could wish for in a luxury holiday abode and from the moment you arrive and take in the peace and tranquility of the surrounding countryside you will be in awe. The friendly owners are on site if there is anything you need. The interiors have been created with luxurious comfort in mind and this is evident throughout. A gorgeous sitting/dining-room awaits, furnished in soft neutral tones and perfect for relaxing on a comfy sofa in front of the Smart TV with its own Netflix login provided. It also offers superfast broadband should you need to work whilst you are here. The feature fireplace is home to a wood-burner making this property super cosy and a year round retreat.
The dining-area leads off the sitting-area and has a gorgeous dining-table with fabulous contemporary lights strung above. Dinner here will be an absolute treat! The separate kitchen is a lovely light space thanks to Velux windows and additional windows overlooking the countryside and your private fenced garden. If you can bear to tear yourself away from the view, the kitchen has all you need to cook up a culinary delight including a range cooker and of course the all-important wine fridge! Bedroom one can be found on the ground floor; decorated in gorgeous grey tones with luxury bedding and a super comfy six-foot bed with Simba hybrid mattress and duvet, you are assured of a great night's sleep here. The en suite shower-room is sublime, with a rainfall shower and window adding natural light. Upstairs the first floor is home to two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. Bedroom two is super flexible with a 'zip and link' bed, so you can choose either twin beds or a super-king double, with a super cute make-up area and yet another view out across the fields. This room also has a chic en suite shower-room so no queuing here for a morning shower! Bedroom three is a dream and offers the perfect haven, with a six-foot super-king bed with a hybrid Simba mattress and duvet you will simply slip into a restful sleep each night. The owners have thought through the guest experience and have made clever use of space, you can either catch up on work or use the table for make-up. The family bathroom is stunning, with a free-standing bath and a shower.
The outside space at The Barn is very special and the private and exclusive hot tub on the terrace is positioned so you can sit and admire the view whilst listening to birdsong or the occasional bleat of a sheep. With oodles of space including a private fenced garden area, you will want to spend every blissful moment outdoors. The owners have ensured the Devon traditions of steeping (hedge laying), banking and stone walling are continued as well as being wildlife friendly.
If you're dreaming of a holiday with a bigger party don't worry, as The Barn shares the site with the charming Great Eckworthy - The Cottage (5068) and Great Eckworthy - The Granary (4993), meaning you can book all three and enjoy a fabulous holiday with your own space to retreat to if you so desire. The cottage itself is semi-detached to the owner's house next door and they are happy to help wherever they can but will always respect your privacy.
Whether you are planning a romantic holiday for two or a getaway with a group of friends, The Barn offers the very best of luxury living and relaxation.
North Devon has everything you need for a holiday getaway. Walkers will love exploring miles of countryside rambles or perhaps plan to walk along the Tarka Trail or coast path, the perfect opportunity to discover hidden coves, sandy beaches and dramatic seascapes. Spend the day in Hartland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (now known as National Landscapes), or perhaps head east towards Westward Ho! a surfer's paradise or North Devon Wake Park for those adrenaline hungry family members. Not forgetting Appledore where calmer waters are perfect for paddle boarding.
Your four-legged family members will enjoy the dog-friendly beach at Instow all year round and you can enjoy a drink or meal at one of a number of dog-friendly pubs on the sea front. For a day of adventure, a passenger ferry can take you from Bideford Quay to Lundy Island where you can spend the day in peaceful seclusion.
Devon is renowned for its fresh local produce so take advantage of local roadside stalls and farm shops to stock up on culinary delights. If you do choose to take a trip to Cornwall, it is only a short drive away and you can be on the sandy beaches of Bude - the best of both worlds. However you plan to spend your holiday time, Great Eckworthy - The Barn, will welcome you back year after year.
