Down by the riverside is exactly where you will be when you make Tansy your holiday home, a charming stone-built cottage set alongside the beautiful River Lerryn on the upper reaches of the Fowey estuary. With views of the river from most of the rooms and a little terrace inviting you to step outside and get a little closer to the action, this is the perfect retreat for water loving couples and families alike.

Tucked away in the heart of the village of Lerryn, which without doubt has to be one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall and the so called inspiration for Kenneth Grahame's 'Wind in the Willows', the village will be at the heart of many wonderful holiday memories. The little village shop is just around the corner, packed full of local produce, hearty Cornish pasties (of course) and the most fabulous ice cream parlour – so much choice, you'll simply have to try a different flavour each day. If cooking is off the agenda, you are on holiday after all, the shop also serves up delights in their little cafe area and if you sneak out the back door of the cottage (please watch your head) and across the lane you'll find the garden of the village pub, The Ship Inn, which serves up traditional pub food along with a good selection of local ale and beer – how convenient is that.

This pretty semi-detached cottage is waiting to greet you with a warm welcome. There are views across the river from the kitchen/dining-room, so if you are tied to the sink, it really won't be such a chore. Take the steps up to the half-landing to the family bathroom, (the back door of the cottage) and the sitting-room, complete with electric wood-burner effect stove to keep you warm and toasty when it turns a little chilly. A further set of stairs (the final few to the twin bedroom are narrow and on an angle, this is an old cottage after all) lead you to the pretty bedrooms which of course also have fabulous views, giving you a great excuse to stay in bed that little bit longer.

With a whole host of walks right from your front door, taking you through ancient woodlands, across open countryside and along the shady riverbanks, you can ditch the car or hire kayaks from Golant and have some fun exploring the waterways. The fashionable sailing town of Fowey has exceptional places to eat and fabulous shops to browse and for all you budding Monty Dons The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project are a must. There is an abundance of beautiful beaches and coves along this stretch of coastline, you are simply spoilt for choice, and in the pretty little town of Lostwithiel, known locally as 'Cornwall's antiques capital' you can explore historic Restormel Cottage (English Heritage) but the best of view of the castle can be found whilst indulging in the wonderful delights served up at the cafe at The Duchy Nursery – highly recommended!
