Escape on an enchanting creekside vacation, in this heavenly homestay for five in the darling hamlet of Penpol. Boasting an unrivalled location in a National Landscape (formerly known as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), right on the banks of Penpol Creek with direct access to the water, this is one for the water lovers and nature watchers.

Trace creekside walks through historic woodlands, delight in leisurely waterside picnics, spot egrets, kingfishers, swans, otters and corn-buntings, brace yourself with an early morning dip, while away days paddleboarding and kayaking (please bring your own) and dine in the dappled shade of the garden with the glowing embers of the fire-pit keeping you warm as the sun sets on another day.

Think Swallows and Amazons meets Wind in the Willows. It's picture perfect and the place to simply kick back, relax and reset.

Set all on one level, Tidal Waters offer light and bright interiors, seamlessly blending mid-century modern style with touches of natural charm and rustic features, with every opportunity to admire the sheer beauty that surrounds. Open plan living is the order of the day, with a warming wood-burning stove waiting to welcome you to your waterside retreat. Sink into the squishy sofa and soak in the view over the pastures and fields from the bi-fold doors that lead out to the pretty garden that offers ample al fresco spaces for dining, relaxing or simply chilling with a good book.

Dare to be dragged away, well there is much to explore in this utterly charming part of Cornwall. Once the ramblers have discovered the walks that lead right from the garden gate, there are endless miles of countryside and coastal paths a little further afield. From Pont Creek you can enjoy the circular Hall Walk which includes two ferry rides across the estuary to take in the trendy sailing town of Fowey. Extend the walk by wandering around the independent shops and galleries, stop off for a bite to eat, there's many choices to tempt you, or simply take time out to watch people enjoying their pursuits on the water.

Head to the nearby village Lerryn, what has to be one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall, to immerse yourself in village life with its river fronting green, traditional pub, village stores and tea shop. If you are lucky enough to arrive during one of the many village festivals or events, prepare yourselves for a hearty welcome and some good old Cornish hospitality.

If you are craving a day at the beach, glorious beaches are in abundance around Lantic Bay and for some traditional seaside charm head to the fishing town of Looe, calling into historic Polperro along the way. For more history, the National Trust's Lanhydrock House and gardens is well worth a visit where you will also find a network of cycling trails if you prefer to be on two wheels.
