TwinButtervilla Retreat offers its own bubble of peacefulness from wonderful interiors to the perfect location for exploring two counties. No detail has been overlooked; furnished throughout to the highest standard you will not be disappointed, this barn offers the best of both worlds from location to styling making for a wonderful memorable self-catering holiday.
Buttervilla Retreat has been renovated by the owners who have spent hours literally bringing it to life stone by stone, the workmanship is clear to see from the design, layout and fittings; perfection has taken several years but the owners have created a holiday retreat that will be the envy of friends and family.
Walking through the doors you are greeted by open plan living at its best with solid wood floors which link the living, dining and kitchen areas together seamlessly. The sophisticated sitting-area has been decorated with local art sculptures and furnished with a sumptuous velvet sofa where you can sit back and enjoy the heat from the wood-burner on those colder nights. The kitchen offers all that any modern home offers, so no compromise is necessary at this barn.
Venturing upstairs you will be greeted by two well positioned bedrooms, the first being the main bedroom. From the bed you have wonderful views down and across the valley, simply open the door and you can enjoy the sound of the birds enjoying the morning sun. Across the landing is the twin bedroom which looks out toward the owners' farmhouse – in no way is your privacy compromised due to the positioning of the private garden and windows. Both bedrooms share the shower-room, which is positioned between the two.
Buttervilla Retreat has its own private entrance and driveway allowing you to park at the end of your garden area. The garden will become the place that you want to start and finish your days, offering the perfect viewing platform for wonderful sunrises and sunsets that will make for wonderful holiday memories.
It's only a short drive from Buttervilla to the gloriously uncrowded beaches of Whitsand Bay, a five mile stretch of creamy sand and clifftop walks with views across Plymouth Sound to the lovely, lonely Rame Head, at the tip of south east Cornwall. At Kingsand and Cawsand you can wander the narrow streets of what was once two fishing villages, on either side of the Devon/Cornwall border.
Just beyond the River Tamar is the little known corner of Cornwall that is St Germans, offering a gateway to a web of tidal rivers that meander down to the trail of beaches and headlands west of the Tamar Estuary. From St Germans station, you can also catch a train south west to the fishing quays of nearby Looe.
Just down the road there's the National Trust's early 18th Century Antony House, and Mount Edgcumbe House and Deer Park – the council-owned Tudor mansion set at the head of the Tamar Estuary and offering miles of woodland foot and cycle paths, with ferry links to Plymouth and paths connecting through to Kingsand, Cawsand and the Rame peninsula.
Buttervilla Retreat can truly offer the best of both Cornwall and Devon, allowing you to enjoy two wonderful counties.
