If a shepherd could pick the perfect spot to take shelter and rest, then this wonderful bolthole for two, in the most glorious countryside setting, overlooking wildlife on the pond, with sheep grazing in the neighbouring meadow, wonderful walks right on your doorstep and the added bonus of the village pub and shop only a ten minute stroll away, is sure to feature pretty high on the list! Set down a quiet country lane on the edge of Lerryn, one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall (said to be the inspiration for Kenneth Graham's Wind in the Willows and previously used as a Rosamunde Pilcher filming location), Shepherd's Rest provides the perfect retreat for those who enjoy being at one with nature and have the treasures and delights of the south Cornish coast close at hand. Set in a tranquil spot and with no WiFi or phone signal, Shepherd's Rest is the perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and truly relax.

With quality craftsmanship throughout, the owners' attention to detail is second to none, cleverly using reclaimed floorboards, Kilner Jar lights, copper features, Vanessa Arbuthnott linens and shepherd's crooks to add to the overall character and charm whilst ensuring that you indulge in the ultimate luxury and comfort. They have even provided a handy outside mixer tap and miniature shepherd's hut 'kennel' for your four-legged friend - it's just too cute! The quality bespoke fitted kitchen, with a fridge/freezer, beautiful oak work surfaces and breakfast-bar is a delight. The king-size bed with Hypnos mattress, donned with luxurious linens will provide the perfect night's sleep and the sweetest of wood-burners will keep you toasty and warm whatever the weather. Because this is glamping, there's also a super stylish en suite shower-room which has plenty of hot water, copper towel rail, wash-basin and that all essential flushing toilet.

Situated in a tucked away spot on the owners' smallholding you will know you are getting a slice of the good life from the minute you arrive - park the car, and the owners' geese and ducks will provide their cheerful welcoming calls (from within their fenced-area) as you stroll across the pasture to your own private wild flower meadow. Relax on the loungers and listen to the sounds of the countryside and replace TV viewing with a panoramic screen of this living Cornish landscape where you may spot dragon and damsel flies dancing over the pond, Canadian Geese raising their young, lambs at play, buzzards circling overhead and frogs demonstrating their leaping skills. Cast your line and fish for Carp in the ponds, dine in the great outdoors from sunrise to sunset and if you need some added warmth the chiminea will take off the chill. For the ultimate glamping experience there is a fabulous and unique barbecue hut overlooking the lake, enjoy cooking your steak or halloumi burger to perfection over charcoal or rekindle those childhood memories and toast marshmallows in the flames.

Two well behaved dogs are welcome at Shepherd's Rest.

Head down into the village to immerse yourself in village life, with its river fronting green and traditional pub, village stores and tea shop. If you are lucky enough to arrive during one of the many village festivals or events, prepare yourselves for a hearty welcome and some good old Cornish hospitality. Hire a kayak and have some fun messing about on the water or discover stunning walks following the river as it meanders downstream to fashionable Fowey with its waterside eateries, independent shops and galleries. Wander the historic harbour side of Charlestown featured in the Poldark series, marvel at spectacular vistas along the coastal footpath and for some fun on two wheels head off to Lanhydrock Estate and Cardinham Woods to discover their network of trails. At nearby Lostwithiel you can visit the 13th Century castle and pick up an antique or two from one of the many antique shops in the town and for garden enthusiasts The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project are within easy access.

Tempted? Go on treat yourself - you deserve a 'rest'!
