An extremely quiet rural retreat, where horses rather than cars pass down the lane outside, Lower Cadwin Cottage is tucked away just a mile outside the village of Lanivet – geographically practically in the centre of Cornwall, which makes this an ideal base for exploring all that this wonderful county has to offer.

Pretty as a picture with roses around the door, a stable-door opens into the open plan sitting-room which is warmed by a wood-burner. There is a well-equipped kitchen/diner and also the bathroom downstairs. Upstairs you will find two pretty bedrooms, full of character with their low beams.

In front of the cottage the small enclosed garden has a sunny, south-facing seating-area – a lovely spot for morning coffee or supper on a balmy summer evening. The owners, who live next door, have a smallholding and their chickens roam freely – all part of country life!

This is such a brilliant location with both coasts being in easy reach, so head south to discover much loved Fowey – a harbourside town full of pubs, restaurants, cafes, galleries, shops and boating activity galore and pretty Charlestown with its historic tall ships. Travel north to the golden sands of Polzeath and Daymer or picturesque Port Isaac of Doc Martin fame.

For garden enthusiasts the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a must and the National Trust Lanhydrock Estate with its magnificent 18th Century country house, wooded parkland and gardens makes a great day out. If you fancy taking to two wheels, Lanhydrock also has a network of trails, great for cyclists of all abilities and Cardinham Woods and the Camel Trail offer even more cycling opportunities.

The nearby village of Lanivet has a village shop, ideal for stocking up on your provisions but if you don't want to cook, you've got the local pub and the renowned chippy to tempt you!
