KingIn an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, approached by a green lane, bordered by sun-dappled woodland, Leat Mill is delightful. A pretty enclosed patio overlooks tranquil surroundings, with little to disturb the peace but birdsong and an occasional rambler. A pleasant walk along the banks of the River Lyd (fly fishing can be arranged in season) leads into Lifton village, where two pubs offer good food.
The downstairs kitchen/diner is spacious and upstairs is a stylish sitting-room, the bedroom and a shower-room. Close to Dartmoor and Roadford Lake Country Park, with lovely walks on the doorstep, Leat Mill, adjoining the owners' home, has only five other nearby neighbours, including Leat Mill Cottage (554) across the private gravelled drive.
No doubt you will be keen to explore the wilds of Dartmoor, or the dog certainly will be. However you are also close to the Tamar Valley, the border between Devon and Cornwall, so why not venture a little further west? There are several lovely National Trust houses within striking distance. There is certainly plenty to do in the area and after a great day out you can return to this little haven of peace.
