Heron's Lea

Wow what a place, we loved everything about it. The location is perfect, within 400m of a lovely white sand beach, a few minutes stroll to a lovely hotel that serves drinks and meals with beautiful sea views, a beach hut serving food and drinks and only 1 mile from Portscatho with a shop offering plentiful supplies and eateries and the most beautiful bay with enticing crystal clear water. The house itself is top spec, so very well equipped, everything is thought of and all of the furnishings are top quality. It’s so nice you feel you want to take very good care of it and that’s probably why it’s so immaculate. It feels just like a well loved family home very kindly shared so others can appreciate the house, garden and surrounding area.  Most holiday homes have a few rough edges here and there but not this one. The outside area is exquisite with a sea view at the bottom of the garden, a mixture of good quality garden furniture, bbq and if you love your plants you’ll be in heaven.  You have 2 neighbours within earshot, we did hear the odd conversation over the fence but everyone is very respectfully enjoying the same airspace. The coastal path is minutes away and you can walk for miles in either direction. The roads approaching were not too scarily narrow like some we’ve encountered in Cornwall, narrowing only as we hit Rosevine and it was only a short distance, once entering the village, down to the house, there’s plenty of parking at the property for at least 3 cars. We had a grocery delivery and they managed to find us quite easily.  We found the house perfect for 2, it would easily house a family of 6 but there is only one main bathroom so that’s a consideration if you are sharing however don’t let this stop you booking or you’ll be missing a treat. It was such a relaxing but equally active holiday with superb weather every day. We couldn’t fault it and we would definitely return, we never go back anywhere so that’s a massive thumbs up.  Thank you to the owners for allowing us to stay, I had a little tear in my eye upon leaving, so very special.  ...

We had a perfect holiday at Heron's Lea. A stunning bungalow in it's own beautiful grounds on The Roseland peninsula no distance to quiet beaches, good food and delightful walks. The house was so comfortable; everywhere bathed in the lovely Cornish light (even grey mist!)...

A fantastic house for a family holiday in a great location and extremely well equiped house, especially the kitchen. Excellent garden and well maintained, with a view of the sea. There's a hidden area at the bottom of the garden with an apple tree. I would recommend Classic Cottages and this property to friends and family. We would definitely come back again....

Great location with lots of decent eat out options nearby including at the beach. Good local produce available too at village grocers and farm shops. Lovely gardens with spectacular views so could enjoy some restful house based days with beach a short, if steep, stroll away. House well equipped to a high standard with comfy beds. Would prefer some additional lounge seating to the very low slung sofas, and some shadier areas in garden as we were lucky with sunny weather most of the time. Would happily return. Overall a great base for a Cornish holiday. ...

The whole house has it’s orientation to make the best of the fabulous views over the garden to the sea. This meant that even when the weather wasn’t great we still felt like we were outside most of the time adding to the feeling of space and relaxation. The beds were extremely comfortable. Would totally recommend De Bara Bakery, the local farm shop and the fish van in Portscatho. Thank you for a lovely week. ...
