Located in a small hamlet, Litton Mill, midway between Buxton and Bakewell, this utterly charming cottage is ideal for couples and young families seeking a getaway in the Derbyshire Peak District. River Garden Cottage is a little beauty - sensitively and stylishly presented whilst retaining much of its original charm with flagstone floors, a Victorian-style fireplace and high ceilings you will be set to holiday mode from the minute you arrive.

The kitchen/dining-room is a triumph of a room, exquisitely presented, with bespoke cabinets echoing where modern country-style meets rustic chic with an open plate rack, a banquet seat for the farmhouse dining-table and under-floor heating. You are sure to linger for a while indulging in leisurely meals at the table planning your next day's adventure. If you want to snuggle up, the charming sitting-room is furnished with style and comfort in mind, the perfect place to relax after an exhilarating walk along the Monsal trail just over the river, cosied up in front of the roaring open fire.

The spacious boot-room with WC is on the ground floor, leading off from the kitchen, the ideal place to leave those muddy boots after a day spent discovering the beauty of the local countryside.

When you've reached the end of the day and you're ready to turn in, open the door in the kitchen and ascend the stairs to the cottage bedrooms. The main bedroom sits at the top of the stairs with glorious views over the garden and river. Next door is the twin bedroom with TV, a great place to unwind. The modern shower-room with its stylish and inventive design finishes off the first floor.

Outside, the attractive setting of River Garden Cottage is evident and we are sure you will enjoy the beautiful colours to be seen in the garden and the wood opposite. Your private garden is a perfect spot for your morning coffee, or an afternoon tipple. The garden is accessed by a gate directly across the lane from the front door, however please be aware that it is open to the beautiful river frontage with no fence, so please keep an eye on children.

Further afield while away a few hours at nearby Chatsworth House looking at the fantastic interiors or walking through the magnificent grounds, or visit their farm shop and buy some tasty food for your next feast. Bakewell is only 10 miles away, treat yourself to one of the famous tarts or spend some time strolling around the market on a Monday. Just nine miles in the other direction is the spa town of Buxton, another fabulous place to visit.

For those who seek outdoor adventure the Peak District has a lot to offer with rock climbing only half a mile from the cottage door. The Monsal trail is over the other side of the river, so cross the bridge and take a walk along the old railway line between Bakewell and Buxton and gaze at the fossil-filled limestone cliffs.

With so much on offer this really is a great location for your holiday in the Peaks.
