It’s a cosy winter’s day in St Agnes, the waves are crashing down at Trevaunance Cove, and Valentine’s Day is on the horizon. So who better than to invite Josh Parker, the founder of Josh’s Chocolate, to Sandbrook for a coffee and chat about the Cornwall-based sustainable chocolate company that creates everything from dark and milk chocolate bars, buttons and hot chocolate spoons.
Thank you so much for joining us today. What motivated you to start your own venture of creating a chocolate company in Cornwall?
I am a self-confessed chocoholic. I founded Josh’s Chocolate out of my love for chocolate and outdoor pursuits in Cornwall. Two feel-good, simple life pleasures.
How do you decide on the themes and designs? Have there been any special moments?
I wanted to intertwine my love of Cornwall into my chocolate and create a product that oozed quality but wasn’t *too* over-sophisticated. Our collection of chocolate bars is all about my wife and me and getting outdoors in Cornwall. We aim to capture those moments and places we have genuine connections with and reflect this in our packaging with illustrations of places close to our hearts, such as Land's End, Porthcurno and Godrevy Lighthouse.
Why do you think Valentine’s and chocolate go so well together?
Chocolate is certainly a romantic product. We keep our branding subtle with a nod to the love of a place and memories.
And finally, what are your plans for the coming months?
Easter is next! So, getting our production and distribution ready for our customers to enjoy!
