Nearby pub
Situated in the heart of this ancient market town, call in for great traditional pub food and real ale. Dogs are welcome and there's a childrens menu available.
Nearby beach
Think Millook Haven Beach and the first thing that comes to mind is geology. Taking pride of place in the cliffs behind the beach are the world famous zigzag folds. Sit on the pebbly foreshore and take in nature's marvellous designs. From the rolling surf to the fascinating cliffs, Millook Haven Beach offers a feast for the eyes. The beach is dog-friendly year-round. There are no lifeguards.

Millook beach
We were driving along the scenic (and rather steep in places) coastal route from Crackington Haven to Bude, and stumbled upon this place. Travelling north, the first thing you see is the spectacular zigzag rock formations on the cliff. We had to stop and investigate. There isn't a car park - but luckily there was enough room on the roadside. It is a rocky beach. The colours and patterns in the rock make the stop a must to view and photograph the amazingness of natures forces.
Nearby walk
Starting from Walk House Car Park in Tower Hill, this trail takes you on a historical walk around the town with examples of every significant type of achitecture since the Norman Conquest. See their Web site for the detailed walk including building descriptions.

Nearby town
Launceston is almost entirely contained within its ancient original walls and has some unique architecture, including the imposing castle ruins that peer over the town.

Launceston is an upbeat town with a fascinating history and good range of shops. I recommend the castle, if you don't mind heights!

A quirky little train journey! We were glamping at Western Meadows (near New Mill Farm Park) and caught the quaint little steam train from the Farm Park into the town of Launceston for a look around. The children loved the 2 mile journey through countryside, it really did feel like we were stepping back in time.
Traditional farmhouse food, homecooked on the Aga. Good vegetarian and gluten-free options are usually available here.

A warm welcome
Beautiful venue with lovely food served in the delightful barn or cottage gardens. Take time to explore the many outbuildings with antiques, craft spaces and local artisan products. A gem of a place

Perfect for lunch
My favourite place for lunch. All local and organic, with their own home grown vegetables and salads. Beautiful patchwork on display with a shop where you can buy materials and gifts. Book for one of Jo's patchwork courses if you're here when one is on.
The impressive keep sits high above the town, with a display charting its 1,000 years of history.

A lovely ruin!
It's worth climbing to the top of the keep (which sits on a huge mound) for the lovely views. The grounds are a good place to picnic (having bought a pasty at the baker's in the town).
One of the South West's largest family run garden centres. Pick up some delicious local produce here. There's an amazing choice of locally-made cakes including Cornish saffron cakes and, of course, scones, with clotted cream and jam to go with them. Cheese lovers will love the Cornish and Devon cheeses and there's plenty of quality fresh meat, produced on local farms.

More than just a garden centre, Homeleigh is worth a visit just for the view across to Dartmoor and surrounding countryside! The cafe serves good food for lunches and teas too. Easy parking and disabled access. Two elderly golden retrievers are often seen wandering around, very much part of this successful family enterprise.
Great fun for all the family with pets corner, skittles, play barn, ball pools, trampolines and giant slide (to name a few). No need to bring a picnic as you can enjoy great value food from the Hungry Farmer Cafe. Plus it's the only farm park to have a steam railway right outside the door to make the journey as much fun as the day.

Great place for young children.
New Mills Farm Park is a quaint family run park where young children will be in their element. Plenty of space for all sorts of play and plenty of animals to meet and pet. Really reasonable price for an all day outing and a great little cafe on site too (you are welcome to bring your own picnic too). The cute little steam train runs to and from Launceston throughout the holiday season (run by another company). All in all, a great day out for the children.

Could do better
I visited here with my two children (aged 4 and 7). Whilst they enjoyed themselves as an adult I guess I looked more at the detail. Some of the ride on go-karts/toys needed some TLC (broken pedals, bent wheels, sticking chains), the zip wire was pretty lame, I didn't get the concept of the 'toboggan' at all - going down a piece of sheet metal on a skateboard? The children enjoyed holding the rabbits but this was under parent supervision. OK, if parents are supervising. Whilst the park didn't close until 5pm, we found that some of the facilities had been locked away by 4.30pm. I know it's not expensive to get in but still...
