Horse and Groom
We had a lovely evening meal with our family. We were made very welcome and offered a choice of tables. There is plenty of choice of drinks and food. The food was excellent and the portions were very generous. We will definitely come back.

Nothig to write home about
Service was good and staff extremely friendly. Food was nothing more than you would get in a Hungry Horse, all edible but very underwhelming.
Nearby beach
Park above the beach and take the steps down. There's two miles of open sandy beach, sandstone cliffs and the chalk cliffs of Freshwater further afield. There are no facilities apart from toilets so take all your food and drink with you. It's a popular spot for kitesurfers and windsurfers. Dogs are not allowed from 1st June to the end of September and there is no lifeguard cover.

Great beach shame about the dogs
Beautiful beach shame they allow dogs on it while summer months and children are there as I witnessed ignorant owners allowing their dogs to foul the beach and leave it there
April 2017
A great spot for an Ice cream if you're out for a drive along the South Coast. One of the few places on the Island you can usually find some Surf
Nearby walk
Have a little pootle around the Western Yar Estuary on this east access walk. It's just under 4 miles long so will take up to two hours, but the IOW Ramblers have put together a lovely illustrated map to download for free with lots of interesting snippets.

Yar Ramble
Interesting walk along the Yar, then through woodland and farmland which took about one and a half to two hours. It was perfect for the dog and walkers and took in some lovely scenery.
Nearby town
On the north-west coast of the Isle of Wight, this bustling small town has lots to offer incuding the longest wooden pier in England dating back to 1875. You will also find some lovely cafes, an eclectic range of boutique shops, cobbled streets and a fabulous Tudor Castle. The Wightlink ferry arrives and departs to and from Lymington here and it's a great place to watch yachts and ships sail by.

Yarmouth
We had amazing fish and chips on the beach here in the evening, 5 minutes drive from the house.
Lovely town to look around and fabulous ships to watch
Also nearby
The original station was transformed into a restaurant in 2014 and is now open for lunch and dinner throughout the year. This is a popular spot for walkers and cyclists and dogs are made very welcome. Give them a call for opening times before you go as they don't open every day during off season months.

Fantastic meal and a nice location for a bit of birdwatching
We had some great burgers and a delicious roast duck leg with a savoury waffle (loved the sauce too!) What a great location! Shame it was too cold for us to explore the wetlands and foreshore, however still managed to spot a few interesting birds on the way back to the town centre. Dogs are welcome too, which is a bonus, and they can even sample some "doggy treats"
Offering views across the Solent, this bistro bar and restaurant has a wide ranging menu throughout the day. You can watch the world go by from the outdoor seating or enjoy the nautical interior inside. Dogs and children are welcome.

Great views, tasty vegan food
We booked in advance having seen reviews about it being busy, glad we did it was full. We were lucky to get window table, wonderful view, relaxed environment, friendly efficient staff. Great to gave vegan options and can recommend the quality chilli. Would certainly go again!

Great Atmosphere
Ate here twice during our weeks stay in Seaview. Even though we hadn’t booked the first time we went, which was a busy Saturday lunch time and we were a party of 6 including a 3 year old, we were given a warm welcome and seated with no problems. We had great service and the food was delicious on both occasions. We booked for our second visit as it seems to be a very popular place, understandably given the quality of the food and the service. Very family friendly too with a great buzzy atmosphere, would highly recommend a visit.

We visited a couple of times and enjoyed it. Great view!
September 2021
Excellent food and great staff
This is a great place to eat as it has some lovely dishes and has a specials board. We tried the sea bass which was so nice we returned for a second helping! Our party also tried the fish of the day which was a whole sea bream, again delicious. The shell on prawns, the fish and chips and the crab ramekin were also really nice and the bread served here was gorgeous and you get plenty of butter. The chocolate brownie dessert was a triumph too. All of this, plus it is dog friendly! Definitely recommended to try.

Curry nights
We usually go to the weekly curry night when we are on holiday
July 2019
The Old Fort Seaview
Lovely seaside pub with outside sitting area. Enjoyed the food, but you do need to book ahead as they get very busy and its OK to sit outside if it is a balmy summer evening.
June 2019
Nice but....
We never got to actually eat in this pub. We did try several times but we were either too late or too early and they weren't serving food and then on our last evening there we were told no dogs after 6pm so we couldn't get a table. To be honest we did rather feel that sailing club members were given priority over holiday makers and that we were a bit of a nuisance that is tolerated rather than encouraged.
A pretty bay with a sand and pebble beach nestled in between chalk cliffs. Located just to the east of Needles headland, the beach is popular but usually has ample space and facilities. Parking is available and dogs are not allowed from May until the end of September. There's no lifeguard cover here.

Refreshing
We sat on the wall next to the short promenade, the air is so fresh, the sun was warm and the sea was noisy around this lovely bay crashing over nearby rocks and rushing up the beach. It was only 30 minutes but wonderful in October.
April 2017
If you visit at high tide, there's a good spot along the sea wall to jump off and go for a swim. At low tide the 'cabbage patch' of rocks appear, a great spot for rock pooling and exploring, but shoes are advised!
This gem of a place is located centrally on the Island and offers a loving and forever home to donkeys. Open daily, entry is free and you can wander the site to say hello to over 100 donkeys and ponies. Dogs are welcome and Grazers Cafe offers refreshments. Donations to support the sanctuary are very welcome.

Wonderful day out
A brilliant day out for the whole family. The experience packages are good value and make the visit extra special.
Check the tide times before you visit as at high tide there is very little beach. At low tide the beach is pebbly with some sand. A promenade goes through to Colwell Bay which is a nice walk with lovely views across to the mainland. There is a disused pier and other facilities are available including toilets and a restaurant. Dogs are not allowed from May until the end of September. No lifeguard cover is available here.
July 2021
Totland Bay
A great beach for all the family and very quiet before the school term ended. When the tide is out there is plenty of sand, but once the tide comes in the beach is reduced considerably. There is still enough for access. The Waterfront restaurant serves excellent food and has wonderful views.
July 2019
Totland Bay
Children absolutely loved Totland Bay both at high and low tides and sunset. Rocky corner provided lots of excitement when watching for baby crash and Little fish.
Dog owners do walk dogs on the Beach thought, it is not too often but it does happen there are no signs about dogs not being allowed too. Some People arrive atTotland bay by boat with dogs too.
Overall beautiful beach with a lot of sand at low tide. Not very crowded and loved by children. Walk to The far left sidę to the peaceful atmosphere near National Trust park side.
