TwinIn a picture-perfect setting, nestled on the banks of the River Camel in the pretty hamlet of Tresarrett, is this enchanting getaway, far from the rush of everyday, that promises riverside reveries and relaxation. It's a magical spot that celebrates the simpler things in life, where you can lose yourself to the gentle flow of the river and marvel at the birdlife and wildlife surrounding you. So, take some time out to spot the beautiful kingfishers and cheeky nuthatches, playful otters and agile stoats- this really is a wonderful escape to the country.
Brimming with charm and character, and sympathetically styled throughout, Bridge Pool Cottage is a fabulous year-round retreat for family breaks, friends holidaying together and also cosy enough for a romantic getaway for two.
You'll feel at home from the minute you step into the kitchen/dining-room, which really is the heart of the home. Sitting riverside and taking pride of place is the sunny conservatory, the perfect spot for your wake-me up cuppa, right through to your evening sundowner and a wonderful vantage point for all things on the river.
When you want to get a little closer to the view, there's a choice of al fresco places to sit. Whether on the higher terrace just outside the cottage door or in the garden, which is right by the river and a wonderful spot for a waterside picnic, Cornish pasty (of course!) or a leisurely supper cooked up on the barbecue beneath the dappled shade of the trees.
On chillier nights, head inside and light up the wood-burner in the sitting-room for an evening of board games, a holiday film or some quiet time with a good book in hand - and there's a great selection to tempt you. When you hear the hooting of the owls, it's time to think about climbing the stairs to the pretty bedrooms that await and with such peace and tranquility, you are sure to have a great night's sleep.
If we can tempt you to venture a little further afield, more delights await. The renowned Camel Trail runs alongside the cottage, ideal for stretching your legs in the morning or getting on your bikes and taking the 18-mile mainly off-road route that wends its way through natural woodlands and the beautiful countryside out to estuary at Cornwall's culinary capital Padstow. The owners very kindly provide a few bikes and should you need to hire more, head to the nearby Snail's Pace cafe.
Pop on those walking boots to explore Bodmin Moor, with its vast open spaces, rock formations that defy gravity and charming moorland villages, many with a traditional pub serving up some good old Cornish hospitality. Your 'local' during your stay is The Blisland Inn, in the village of the same name. Known for its traditional pub fare and a fine selection of local ales it's just under a mile up the road or you can take the footpath. Whilst there you might also pick up some provisions from the community shop and cafe.
You're well-located for venturing to either coast - on the dramatic north you'll find the surfing beaches of Polzeath and Trebarwith and the more sheltered waters of Daymer Bay, along with the delightful villages of Port Isaac and Boscastle. Head south and stop off at the trendy sailing town of Fowey, historic Charlestown or enjoy some traditional seaside charm in the working fishing harbour of Looe.
And that's not all, for historians and garden enthusiasts, Lanhydrock (National Trust) or Pencarrow are a must, in fact there's so much to enjoy, one visit is not enough and you will soon be picking that diary date for your return trip.
The north coast of Cornwall with its dramatic, rugged rocky landscape, large waves and the busier tourist towns and villages are just a few miles away, whilst the south coastline with its much softer landscape featuring tidal estuaries and quaint sleepy fishing villages is less than thirty minutes' drive.
