SingleThis charming gem of a cottage is located in the pretty village of Muston, Yorkshire, which is listed in the Domesday Book. Close to the seaside town of Filey and one of England's finest beaches, it is a converted old school house with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Sleeping five and ideal for families and friends, this cottage will delight with its sunny rooms, large garden and well-designed interiors.
Upon entering you are greeted by an open plan living area with beautiful original windows and a cosy wood-burner ensuring a warm and toasty stay whatever the season. School House's character blends seamlessly with the modern comforts found throughout the cottage. The kitchen is large and well-equipped with French doors leading out to the enclosed garden, which boasts mature borders and a sun-kissed patio, perfect for enjoying outdoor meals or relaxing in the sunshine. Children will love the spacious lawns, just right for ball games and fun in the sun.
Inside the ground floor features a cosy bedroom with its own en suite shower-room, perfect for family members who may not wish to use the staircase. Upstairs two more stylish bedrooms await, each thoughtfully decorated to create a comfortable retreat. The family bathroom is contemporary with a sleek bath for unwinding in after a day exploring the nearby coast. Tucked away on the first floor is a snug, a nook filled with books and games. Original windows frame a picturesque view of the garden making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy a peaceful moment with a good book.
This lovely cottage, just a stone's throw from the seaside, captures the essence of countryside living with the bonus of being close to the beautiful Yorkshire coast.
Situated in the lovely village of Muston the location of School House is perfect for exploring the Yorkshire coast. Filey with it's long sandy beaches and the famous spit of land, Filey Brigg, is only a short drive away and a fantastic place to take the children with their buckets and spades. Further up the coast is Scarborough with the opportunity to visit the Sealife centre or maybe take in some live entertainment at the Open Air Theatre. For indoor entertainment there is always the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough.
If you turn south down the coast you will discover Bempton cliffs with the RSPB sanctuary. At the right time of year you can watch puffins flying in and out of the cliffs. Or explore Flamborough with it's lighthouse and rocky coves where you might spot crabs and other small shellfish. Inland will take you to the Yorkshire Wolds, an undiscovered gem with rolling hills and plenty of walking. Visit the market town of Driffield, or find your way to Wetwang with its fish and chip shop. Not forgetting this is the area the iconic British artist David Hockney spent many years painting and you can follow in his footsteps across the Wolds towards York.
For a touch of history why not visit York with its beautiful medieval streets, the Minster and the walls you can walk around. For Harry Potter fans The Shambles is the place to go and maybe come away with your own wand. York is a great place to shop and eat with many independent shops and restaurants.
