Super-kingLocated in Grittleton, a short drive from both Chippenham and Bath, just on the edge of the Cotswolds, an area of beautiful countryside and picturesque villages, come and discover Stable End, a beautifully presented barn for one or two guests. As pretty as a picture inside and out, this sympathetic conversion of a working barn, close to the Estate of Grittleton House, is a delightful home-from-home, somewhere very special to enjoy a short break or longer stay.
Retaining and showcasing the original roof beams, step into the open plan living area to appreciate the space and comfort of this stunning barn, for relaxing, dining and cooking. Whether here for a special occasion or just in need of a break, after a day out and about return to Stable End after a stop at one of the many farm shops in the area, to rustle up a tasty meal - there's an oven and two ring hob. Or if you prefer someone else to do the cooking, head off to the local pub where you'll find a friendly welcome.
When your eyelids start feeling heavy, head down the hallway to your beautiful bedroom complete with super-king size bed and en suite shower-room. The lovely owners, who live nearby, have thought of everything to make your stay complete; plenty of storage for all your holiday clothes and 'Sunday best' if it's a wedding you're attending. And if the weather turns during your stay and the much-anticipated walk turns a bit muddy, fear not, there is a washing machine and tumble-drier ready for use.
To the front of the property is the pretty courtyard, with allocated dining and seating areas for Stable End and its neighbour, Weighbridge End, also accommodating up to two guests. Book the two barns together for friends and family and receive a 20% discount. On arrival, open up the interconnecting sound proof door (cleverly hidden behind a wall hanging) and enjoy lots of quality time together.
As locations go, Grittleton is the perfect base to explore a wide variety of attractions including many pretty villages in the Cotswolds. In under ten minutes you can be in the village of Castle Combe, often seen in many movies and television programmes including War Horse and Dr Dolittle.
This picturesque Wiltshire village on the edge of the Cotswolds is both ancient and unspoiled, the Grittleton Estate was formally owned by the Neeld family with one of the most notable buildings in the village being Grittleton House. Back in history it functioned as an independent school, before becoming a family home, today it is a popular venue for weddings and events. The village has a history dating back many centuries and lies near to the Roman Fosse Way, don't forget to visit the local pub The Neeld Arms, roaring log fires in the winter, outside eating in summer and fresh local food all year round. Also nearby is the award-winning Salutation Inn at The Gibb, just a short drive or long walk for a friendly welcome and good food.
If shopping is on your mind then the beautiful city of Bath is only fifteen miles away, shops, restaurants and of course the famous baths to explore. Other local attractions include the Manor House Golf Club, Castle Combe Race Circuit and the famous home of the Badminton Horse Trials and deer park are all within easy reach.
