KingIf you're looking for a peaceful or romantic break in the heart of the Sussex countryside, then this is the place for you! Situated in Beckley, near the village of Broak Oak, Darjeeling Lodge makes a great base for visiting Rye, Battle and the golden beach of Camber Sands.
Perfect for couples or friends, you will find a beautifully presented living space with a fully equipped kitchen, fit for any budding chef and space where everyone can socialise together. After dinner, relax with your favourite tipple, play cards, or cosy up on the sofa and chairs whilst watching a movie on the Smart TV.
Sliding doors open onto the patio and garden area and out towards the paddocks where the owner's horses can sometimes be seen grazing.
At either end of the lodge, there are two beautifully presented king-size double bedrooms, both very similar in style and having en suite shower-rooms.
Wake up refreshed and head outside onto the private patio-area with a coffee in hand whilst enjoying the sounds of mother nature. You may be lucky to spot deer, rabbits, foxes, birds or a family of badgers that frequently visit.
The owners who live nearby are on hand should you need anything. They also have a friendly dog Pixie, who may pop along to say hello.
One well-behaved dog is welcome, and you will find many walks for your pooch nearby. Head down the drive and along the lane and straight into Beckley Woods, a 145 hectare mixed woodland plantation.
Nearby to Darjeeling Lodge is The Little Lodge (5599) which sleeps two and can be booked together if you require additional accommodation for family and friends.
The village of Broad Oak has a bakers, pub, local brewery and convenience store.
Visit the 1066 town of Battle, famous for its Abbey. You will find tea rooms, pubs and several independent shops. There is also a mainline station which connects to London and the coast at Hastings.
Visit the medieval town of Rye, home to The Rye Bay Scallop Festival and the Rye Arts Festival. Wander the pretty cobbled streets where there are art galleries, antiques shops and an abundance of individual and boutique shops, pubs and restaurants. There is also a mainline railway station here too.
Take a visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells with its super shopping complex, the old town and the Pantiles known for its Chalybeate spring water.
Pack your bathing suit and head to the coast. Camber Sands is famous for its golden beach and sand dunes or there is Winchelsea, Hastings, Pevensey Bay or Eastbourne beaches to explore.
With numerous National Trust properties, Gardens, Vineyards, and Castles to visit, you will be spoilt for choice. Visit Bodiam Castle, Sedlescombe Vineyard, Great Dixter House, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, Rudyard Kipling's House, Batemans, Dungeness, Battle Abbey, Smallhythe Place, Camber Castle, Herstmonceux Castle, The Observatory Science Centre, Rye Castle Museum, Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Bedgebury Forest or perhaps Bewl Water before heading back to the delights of Darjeeling Lodge!
