TwinOh my, what a wonderful place this is. Escape to the magical harbourside village of Charlestown, nestled on Cornwall's captivating south coast.
Tucked away on the edge of a gated courtyard, providing privacy and a peaceful setting, this home-from-home Grade II Listed cottage, invites you to immerse yourself in all that this fabulous village has to offer. You can wander from your door down to the magnificent tall ships moored in the harbour, the shops and galleries, the beaches and coastal footpath, not to mention the numerous places to eat and drink. In fact, you could ditch the car for your stay and really live like a local, truly embracing all the beauty that is on your doorstep.
Set over three floors, you will find delightful interiors. In the open plan living-room on the first floor, you are sure to enjoy special times together, whether preparing hearty holiday breakfasts, indulging in culinary delights around the dining-table or cosied up together on the sofa watching a family film. The two double rooms are also found on this floor, styled with comfort in mind and accents of vibrant zingy colours to set you up for the day ahead. The open stairs lead up into the twin bedroom which takes pride of place on the second floor. Set under the eaves the room is full of character and charm.
Charlestown has a fantastic selection of coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, and street food pop ups so you certainly won't be short of places to eat! There's a selection of stylish boutique shops and galleries if you fancy a spot of retail therapy and on warm summer evenings wander along the pretty harbour, marvelling at the historic tall ships whilst picking up a treat from one of the street food stalls.
If you're in search of those fabulous coastal views synonymous with Cornwall, then lace up your walking boots, pack a picnic and head out for a scenic walk along the coastal path where the views will take your breath away. Or enjoy lazy days on the beach, building sandcastles and taking the odd dip in the crystal-clear waters. If you're a Poldark fan, Charlestown was one of the favoured locations for filming the popular TV series, so you can seek out the filming locations and walk in the footsteps of Poldark himself!
If you do fancy venturing further afield St Austell Bay is dotted with several golden sand beaches and there's a fantastic choice of gardens to visit, including Heligan, Pinetum, Marsh Villa and of course, the Eden Project. The stylish sailing town of Fowey is nearby, and is well worth a visit for its restaurants, cafes, boutiques, and galleries or perhaps to kayak up the river to the little village of Lerryn, said to be the inspiration of Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows.
