Zip and linkJust a few minutes from idyllic Seagrove Bay, Saye House has been stylishly renovated to a high standard offering a wonderful place to enjoy a well-earned rest on the Isle of Wight. Situated on Gully Road which winds its way down to the sea; from here, tide permitting, you can walk along the water's edge to Seaview village in approximately 15 minutes.
Take a walk away from the village and you will find Priory Bay, which many would argue, is one of the Island's best beaches. The bay is surrounded by Priory woods, owned by the National Trust, with white sands and clear waters, it is truly a magical spot.
Seaview is full of life in the summer months with some highly regarded places to eat out. You won't tire of the panoramic sea views whilst you take a spot in the outdoor seating area of the Seaview Hotel sampling the crab ramekin. Seaview beach itself is quite rocky making it perfect for crabbing and rock pooling, whilst Seagrove Bay is sandy and has shallow waters for swimming, you have the best of both worlds.
For those who like messing around in boats the Seaview yacht club is an integral part of the village, it hosts the Seaview regatta in the summer with plenty of activities to try both on land and sea. The Island is a walker's delight with many coastal paths to follow and some wonderful beaches to discover, many with beach cafes, perfect for a spot of lunch.
Laid over three floors Saye House is spacious, light and beautifully furnished. The kitchen/dining-room leads out to the enclosed garden where there is a raised decking-area with outdoor table and chairs. The kitchen is stylish and fully equipped, with plenty of space to entertain. Three of the bedrooms are on the second floor, the main double bedroom has a beautiful en suite with a private balcony which overlooks the garden. On the ground floor there is a playroom with a television, so the kids have their own space whatever the weather.
Seaview is on the east coast of the Island with Bembridge one of the neighbouring villages. Considerably larger than Seaview, Bembridge has a good choice of independent shops including a bakery, fishmongers and butcher. The Island has a vast array of home-grown produce, including the delicious Bembridge crab. The Garlic Farm in Newchurch is a fine example of Island produce, you can walk freely around the farm and see the animals including, pigs, horses and peacocks. The on-site cafe serves wonderful food, of course using their own garlic, and they serve a superb cooked breakfast; the perfect way to start the day.
The west coast of the Island is less populated, and the coastline is more rugged. Military Road runs along the coast between Chale and Freshwater Bay, drive along and savour the breathtaking sea views and the Needles. There are plenty of viewing points to stop and enjoy, and there are a few ice cream vans dotted along the way for sustenance. The Island has something for everyone throughout the year, you will definitely want to return.
