DoubleEscape the everyday to a tranquil spot set in an idyllic location overlooking spectacular countryside with views across the Dart Valley. Be greeted at the farm gate by the friendly and inquisitive Alpacas.
This gorgeous shepherd's hut is lovingly furnished to a high standard, making your holiday both romantic and relaxing, whilst providing comfort and practicability. The small but brilliantly formed wood-burner will keep you toasty in the cooler months, perfect for those cosy evenings in, complimented by a bubbling hot tub for evenings out under the stars.
There are many charms awaiting you inside. The cleverly designed kitchen and dining area offers an effortless combination of good looks and function. There is, of course, a sparkling shower-room complete with hot and cold running water, flushing loo and heated towel rail. When it comes to turning in, the bed has a wonderfully thick mattress ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of exploring.
Outside is just as special as inside at Bowhay Shepherd's Hut - first and foremost, the hot tub to sit back, relax and while away the hours - bliss! A fire-pit barbecue is provided for cooking and dining al fresco (or even toasting marshmallows) with a patio set on-hand if you fancy reading a book (or a snooze in the sun!). Watching the sun go down is such a fabulous way to complete your day, with the glorious fire-pit to keep you warm and snuggly into the twilight hours.
If you can bear to tear yourselves away from this idyllic retreat, there is so much to see and do nearby. For eating out, the pretty village of Stoke Gabriel is only a short stroll away (around one mile) and offers a delightful eatery called The River Shack, which is perched on the edge of the mill pond. This is such a great spot to enjoy a bite to eat whilst being waterside - the perfect destination for a countryside walk. You could even try your hand at crab catching whilst there or hire a kayak (seasonal) to explore the River Dart.
For the superstitious, you even have a chance to conjure up some good luck. Whilst in the beautiful village of Stoke Gabriel, if you visit the churchyard, you will find the oldest Yew Tree in Britain, said to date back 1000 years. According to local lore, if you walk backwards seven times around this great yew tree, you will be granted a wish. Surely worth a try!
If you jump in the car, you are within striking distance of many of the south Devon hotspots such as the beauty of Dartmoor, or why not take a trip to Dartmouth or the historic town of Totnes? Beaches nearby include Torquay (known as the English Riviera) or the Blue Flag beaches of Brixham. Slapton Sands is well worth a visit, which is famous for its role in the Allied preparations for the D-Day landings. Further afield are the magnificent beaches of Bigbury and Bantham, popular for windsurfers.
However, why use the car at all? In this wonderful spot you can walk for miles. Don your walking boots and head off in the direction of Totnes via the bridle path. A trek off the beaten track will bring you as close as you can get to the beautiful south Devon countryside.
This fabulous shepherd's hut is nestled in such a charming location, offering a magical glamping experience whatever the time of year. Bowhay will never fail to offer adventure and attraction, coupled with comfort and style. What are you waiting for?
