Woodbine Barn is in a magical rural setting between the stunning beaches of the north Devon coast and the wilds of Exmoor National Park. This very high quality barn conversion is at the original farmstead at Smythapark but is detached and set away from the historic farmhouse.

It has a lovely patio-area at the back – so completely private and not overlooked – adjoining a huge fenced hilltop paddock with stunning panoramic views, dedicated to Woodbine Barn's guests, children and four-legged friends. The beautifully presented accommodation has a sitting-room with a wood-burner and Smart TV, a fully equipped kitchen/dining-room and on the first floor two lovely bedrooms – one is a double and the other can be set up as a double or as twins for flexibility.

Off the beaten track in the best sense of the word, and reached along a long private farm track which curves around the hillside, the setting at Smythapark opens up with space all around. Smythapark's owners use the farmhouse themselves, when they can, but you will feel totally independent if they are there, however, much of the time you will have the setting all to yourselves.

Barnstaple, with its pannier market, is the nearest town and further afield there are numerous lovely coastal towns and resorts to visit – Instow with its sandy all year round dog-friendly beach, Appledore, an historic fishing village, Braunton Burrows, an UNESCO World Heritage Site with fabulous sand dunes, Saunton Sands with miles and miles (literally) of beach and Croyde and Woolacombe with their great surfing reputation.

Inland, Exmoor National Park offers a rugged and beautifully unspoilt landscape. Start off at Simonsbath for riverside walks and then head up onto the open moors for an exhilarating walk. Withypool has an excellent riverside picnic-area, seasonal tea shop, village shop and pub, and Dulverton is the most lovely little market town that is the heart and soul of Exmoor.
