As you wind through the moorland lanes that lead to the pretty rural hamlet of Warleggan, you'll appreciate why the locals have twinned this special place with CS Lewis' fantasy world of 'Narnia' and right here is where your holiday adventure begins. Tucked away in a peaceful corner of 12 acres of woodland, meadows and streams - along with its siblings The Witch's Wagon and The Enchanted Wardrobe (picking up on a theme yet?), each with plenty of their own private space, with the friendly yet discreet owners on hand but out of sight - The Lion's Den is ideal for a family holiday for four or romantic getaway for two, and any four-legged friends in tow.

With panoramic views of Cornish farmland and wooded hillsides, across the Glynn Valley, The Lion's Den is the perfect spot to relax, unwind and be at one with the great outdoors. We cannot promise an appearance from Aslan or Mr Tumnus but whilst relaxing on the loungers, chilling out in the hot tub or toasting marshmallows (or scrummy home-bred sausages or bacon, available to purchase from the lovely owners) over the firepit, you may catch a glimpse of a red deer, an elusive fox or hear the screech of an owl as day turns to dusk. With such a stunning backdrop you'll be sure to enjoy meals al fresco, stargaze to your heart's content (well this is a designated dark landscape area!) or enjoy some quiet time, lazing in the hammock with a good book - perhaps a du Maurier or Rosamunde Pilcher, both of whom were inspired by this wonderful county, or let mother nature create the story for you!

Beautifully presented in fashionable muted tones with the odd splash of colour and soft furnishings befitting of its countryside setting, this gorgeous open plan shepherd's hut has bunk-beds at one end (the youngsters will love them) and a sumptuous king-size bed at the other, perfect for bedtime stories and enjoying time together. The stylish kitchen comes with an oven, 2 ring hob and full-size fridge, and there's a homely wood-burner keeping you warm and toasty whatever the weather and of course a super en suite shower-room complete with hot and cold water, flushing toilet and heated towel rail no less! Add to this oodles of under-bed storage for your holiday gear and of course a spacious wardrobe (take a step inside who knows where you might end up!) and what more could you need.

Looking for more adventure, don your walking boots and head out to explore Bodmin Moor, with its wide open spaces, rock formations that defy gravity and charming moorland villages. The brilliant foot and cycle trails of Cardinham and Lanhydrock woods are only a short drive away and, for something a little less energetic, stop off at the majestic Lanhydrock House and Gardens, which will entertain both young and old alike.

You're well-located for venturing to either coast - on the north you'll find the surfing beaches of Polzeath and Widemouth Bay along with the culinary capital of Padstow and the delightful Port Isaac (of Doc Martin fame) and, on the south, stop off at the trendy sailing town of Fowey or enjoy some traditional seaside charm in the working fishing harbour of Looe. In fact, there's so much to do that one visit will not be enough, and you will simply have to return to enjoy the sequel!
