King

Snuggled into the hillside and reached on foot up through an ancient orchard, this bespoke cabin is the ultimate rural retreat. Gaze at the stars through the window from your super-comfy king-size bed or relax in your very own wood-fired hot tub with a glass of sparkly whilst watching the swooping swallows or, for a dip in the dark, listening to the owls call.

Old Orchard Cabin offers open plan living with a king-size double bed, wood-burner for cosy nights in, dining-area and fitted kitchen (complete with fridge, one-ring induction hob and combination microwave oven). The shower-room has a proper flushing WC, electric shower and heated towel rail for toasty warm towels.

Magnificent views from your terrace look across an ancient orchard and 15th Century farmhouse to the picturesque Coly valley from where you can walk along the river to the nearby historic Saxon town of Colyton, set in east Devon's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A little open-top electric tram takes you from the Colyton tram station along the river Axe through wetlands to the nearby World Heritage Jurassic Coast at Seaton.

Lyme Regis, with its iconic Cobb, is just eight miles away with spectacular views of Golden Cap, the highest point along the south coast, and just maybe you will find a fossil to take home from Monmouth beach. All along the east Devon and Dorset coastline you are faced with an array of stunning cliffs, pebble beaches and fishing ports. Boat hire, kayaking, and Jurassic Coast trips are available during the summer months from the beach at Beer, along with an amazing fish stall selling the catch of the day, landed on the beach.

Sidmouth, an elegant regency town surrounded by striking red cliffs on this fabulous stretch of the Jurassic Coast, is well worth a visit, as is the ice cream stall on the sea front. Nearby Budleigh Salterton and the River Otter are delightful places to walk and enjoy a slower pace of life surrounded by wildlife.

River Cottage is a very short drive away; you can book to attend a cookery course or have dinner there during your glamping holiday. Inland you will find rolling hills, miles of footpaths to roam and some excellent farm shops selling local produce, plenty of choice to take back and cook over the fire-pit in your tranquil orchard.
