This perfect rural idyll has everything to offer guests who are seeking to explore Devon from the comfort of an exemplary home-from-home base, with a glorious hot tub to recharge in at the end of the day. Moorhayes used to be an old barn and has been thoughtfully converted, retaining character along with creating a feeling of space and luxury.

The open plan living-room has travertine tiles, under-floor heating, Laura Ashley sofas, a wood-burner, an exceptional kitchen and full length, bi-fold doors; these open onto the patio and garden, a wonderful space to be, come rain or shine – it is just like an infinity garden!

Bring along your wine and books and be assured that the peaceful location and comfort of this stunning detached retreat will be all you need to recharge those batteries.

Easy to reach and yet off the beaten track, Moorhayes is just outside the little hamlet of Broadwoodkelly. From the country roads in this area you will get tempting glimpses of the high ground of the Dartmoor National Park with snow on the top of the dramatic granite Tors in the winter and great expanses of purple heather and yellow gorse through the spring and into the summer.

Visit the National Trust’s Castle Drogo at Drewsteignton for some culture and then set off across the moors for an adventure away from everyone else. Although set in mid-Devon, from this cottage it is a straightforward drive up to the north Devon coast where you will find miles of wide sandy surfing beaches.

If you decide to set off on foot, there is a network of local footpaths and country lanes to follow through this lovely unspoilt countryside. Pack yourselves a picnic and leave the car parked up.
