Step back in time in this 500 year old, Grade II Listed stone house, set back in Marazion’s Market Place, close to the beach where the tidal causeway and boats cross to St Michael’s Mount.

The Cottage has been carefully restored, decorated and furnished to reflect its long history – perhaps once the home of a ship’s captain?

Possibly the oldest dwelling in Marazion, it has the low doorways, crooked walls and floors of its period, but its award-winning renovation has incorporated up-to-date green energy systems including an air source heat pump, under-floor heating downstairs as well as a wood-burner, and special low temperature radiators in the bedrooms. Traditional but high quality furnishings combine comfort with character.

As you cross the threshold you enter another age, evoked by the thick stone walls, ‘cruck’ roof structure, ships’ timber beams, ‘plank-and-muntin’ screens, ancient fireplaces, antique furniture and art, and traditional fabrics and paints.

The Cottage has been so sensitively and skilfully restored that it has received an award from The Cornish Building Group for its renovation as an historic treasure.

With its origins steeped in history, The Cottage nevertheless has all the comforts of a modern home and you can cook in the well-equipped kitchen, dine in the pretty dining-room or barbecue in the patio garden, where small stone sheds provide useful bike and surfboard storage.

Within an easy walk of the beach, The Kings Arms Inn, The Godolphin Arms, Mount’s Bay Sailing Club and Marazion Marshes RSPB reserve, The Cottage may be ancient, but it is also a wonderful present day holiday home.
