The neighbouring sailing town of Fowey, where you can wander the streets browsing the shops and galleries or stop off for a bite to eat or drink, as there's a great choices of cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Sitting at the mouth of the river is Fowey on one side and Polruan on the other.
This stretch of coastline offers gentle waters and soft sandy beaches.
The historic house, gardens and parkland at Lanhydrock is well worth a visit (National Trust).
Historic Charlestown is a little further down the coast.

We had a wonderful stay at River View Terrace, Golant. The property is located in picturesque Golant, nr. Fowey, with easy road access to places of interest in and around Cornwall. Stunning views from the property terrace/windows over the River Fowey and harbour. For stargazers, on some nights the stars were huge and felt close enough to reach for! A comfortable, spacious, character residence ideal for couples/families or groups. The Fisherman's Arms riverside pub served delicious food with a warm welcome from the proprietor/chef and team. Thank you for a great break, we felt sad to leave - the sign of a good holiday. Highly recommend....

The views from the cottage are beautiful but please be aware that the access to the property is extremely difficult and not for the faint hearted.
